The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports. On Friday, November 6th at 9:00 in the morning, the department was contacted in reference to a stolen trailer from a residence on county road 4030. The resident stated when he returned the lock was gone off his gate and later noticed that a red 16-foot bumper hitch flat bed trailer with side rails and white spoke wheels was missing. The trailer has a new wood floor and rear brakes. At 4:00 that afternoon, the department was contacted in reference to the stealing of a motor vehicle on Highway Z. The vehicle was identified as a gray 1996 Honda Civic. The resident stated that he had kicked his wife out earlier in the day and he figured she took the vehicle. The deputy advised the resident that if the wife took the vehicle, she could not be charged with stealing her own property. On Sunday, November 8th at 12:04 in the early morning, deputies responded to a burglary at the Lenox Community Center. Upon arrival the deputy spoke with a victim that advised that someone entered his home and stole several items. The resident stated that he thought it was his sister who lives in Cuba, Missouri. There were no signs of forced entry and the resident stated that his sister used to live there and that the items taken were of interest only to her.
The Salem Police Department released their reports involving thefts, disorderly conducts, trespassing, and assault. On Tuesday, November 3rd at 7:18 p.m. an officer was detailed to the 100 block of South Jackson in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a Nikon camera valued at $215 from a residence. On Wednesday, November 4th at 12:11 a.m. an officer was dispatched to McDonalds Restaurant in reference to a violent intoxicated person. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 22 year-old male of Jadwin for disorderly conduct and littering. The suspect was issued summons to appear in court and released. Later that morning at 7:23 a.m. an officer was sent to the Fourth Mall in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took two cell phones valued at $120, and a box of beef jerky valued at $18. Later that evening at 9:35 p.m. an officer was near the 200 block of West Eighth and observed a 28 year-old male of Salem who was in an intoxicated condition shouting profanities at a female and her son. Further investigation revealed the intoxicated subject was shouting profanities randomly and had no connections to the mother and son. The officer made contact with the suspect and found he had an active warrant from Dent County. The suspect was taken into custody on the active warrant, incarcerated, and issued summons to appear in court for disorderly conduct. Further on that night at 10:29 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of North Warfel in reference to trespassing. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 17 year-old male of Salem for trespassing. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Thursday, November 5th at 10:01 an officer was detailed to the 400 block of North Park in reference to a domestic assault. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 20 year-old male of Salem for 1st degree burglary and 2nd degree domestic assault. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. The Dent County Fire Protection District Board of Directors held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday November 3rd. After a roll call and approval of the consent agenda, Chief Brad Nash presented the second draft of the 2010 budget. A discussion was held and it was decided the budget will only be able to reflect the major areas, and revisions will be made and presented at the next meeting. Reimbursements were reviewed and it was decided that all is ready for the checks to be written at the December meeting. Nash also reported that there is no word on the FEMA Grant at this time. It was reported that FEMA has only one person writing checks so it will be a while before any money is received for the May storm. Additionally, the firehouse software is installed and maps and data is being updated. An implementation date of December 1st has been proposed at this time. The Board then went into closed session.
