The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports for the first week of November. Between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 am on November 3rd, the Dent County Sheriff’s Department received three separate reports of attempts to steal gasoline from automobiles. One report included a stolen hunting knife from a vehicle. All the reports were from residents located off of Highway 19 South. One resident reported being awakened by his dog and upon checking his property, the dog pursued the suspect. The suspect fled in an unknown vehicle located by the highway, leaving the gas can and hoses, which were being used to appropriate gasoline. Also on November 3rd, the department received a report of a burglary, which occurred within the last month, at a residence located off of Dent County Road 622. The front door had been kicked in and a 1979 CJ-7 Jeep was missing. On November 4th, while monitoring traffic on Highway 72 West, a deputy observed a vehicle matching the CJ-7 Jeep reported missing. While following the Jeep, the driver made an abrupt turn onto Dent County Road 318 and the deputy made an attempt to stop the vehicle. A pursuit ensued and the Jeep traveled off of Dent County Road 318 into a private drive and slid into a wooded area. The driver and a passenger fled into the woods and three other subjects were taken into custody. As a result, a 21-year old female was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and a warrant was issued with bond was set at $7,000. On November 5th, a deputy received information concerning the driver and passenger who had fled into the woods and both subjects were taken into custody. A warrant was issued on a 28-year old male for tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest and detention or stop by fleeing with bond being set at $20,000. A 28-year old male is being held on an unrelated charge with no bond. The Dent County Sheriff’s Department received assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Salem Police Department.
The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors Building Committee will meet today at 4:45 pm in the hospital administrator’s office. This meeting is open to the public.
The Salem Police Department released their reports for the first of November including assaults, property damage and a stolen bike. On November 2nd at 10:42 in the evening, an officer while on patrol observed a disturbance near the 200 block of North Highway 19. The report revealed a 17-year old Salem male was attempting to assault another 17-year old Salem male. He was arrested, issued a summons to appear in court and released. On November 3rd at 3:21 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a stolne bike. According to the report, person(s) unknown took from the yard of a residence in the 500 block of North Jackson a green, Next boys 20” bicycle valued at $50. The report is still under investigation. On November 5th at 4:48 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the 800 block of East Center in reference to property damage. The report revealed that a 27-year old Salem male had assaulted an 18-year old male and a 19-year old female both from Salem as well as caused property damage. He was arrested, issued a summons to appear in court and released. Anyone with any information regarding the stolen bike is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green is questionable Sunday against Miami as he continues to recover from a concussion sustained in the opening game of the season. Since that time, backup Damon Huard has posted 11 touchdown passes and just one interception, recording a 5-2 mark in seven starts.
St. Louis born and raised, Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard was honored as the Player of the Year in voting among his major league peers. Howard, also the NL's Outstanding Player, is coming off a sensational sophomore season for the Phillies, as he led the majors with both 58 home runs and 149 RBI, while hitting .313. St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols was named the 2006 Players Choice Marvin Miller Man of the Year for on-field performance and community contributions. The award is named in honor of the first executive director of the Major League Baseball Players' Association. Pujols, who was also a finalist for Outstanding Player of the Year, established the Pujols Family Foundation, which is dedicated to the love, care and development of people with Down Syndrome.

Graveside services for Jacqueline Watson of Florissant, age 72, will be held this morning at 10:00 at the Steelville Cemetery.
Funeral services for James M. Gaylord of Bland, age 53, will be this morning at 10:00 at the James & Gahr Chapel in St. James. Interment will be in the Branstetter Cemetery.
Funeral services for Judith May Amsden of Kinberling City, formerly of Salem, age 63, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ellington.
Funeral services for Clara Bell Shockley of Steelville, age 99, will be Friday at 1:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be tonight from 5:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery.
