The United States Attorney’s Office announced that 43-year old Gregory Lee Stacy pled guilty to distributing oxycodone between December 2008 and January 2009 in Dent County. Stacy of Salem pled guilty before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.  He now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000, when he is sentenced on November 23, 2010. The Dent County Sheriff’s Department, the Dent County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the South Central Missouri Drug Task Force, the Dent County Coroner, and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Bert handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a number of incidents. On Monday, November 1^st at 4:00 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the Ranch Motel on Highway 32 West in reference to suspicious individuals lurking around vehicles. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old Bunker man for minor in possession of intoxicants. Both were issued summons to appear in court and were released. An 18-year-old Centerville man was arrested for minor in possession of intoxicants, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was issued summons to appear in court and was incarcerated. At 4:30 that afternoon, an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of West Gibbs in reference to an unresponsive man. The investigation revealed that 55-year old Walter Salts of Salem was deceased. At 6:00 p.m. that evening, an officer responded to the 300 block of West Eighth Street in reference to animal abuse. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 17-year-old Salem man for the animal abuse. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. At 6:30 p.m. an officer was detailed to a residence in the 600 block of East Gibbs in reference to a burglary. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown entered a residence and took a Playstation III and seven games valued at $750. On Tuesday, November 2nd at 4:23 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to the Mobil Convenience Store in reference to property damage. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 30-year old Salem male for causing approximately $150 in damage to the wall of the building. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. On Thursday, November 4th at 5:32 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to identity theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown used the identity of another to set up an e-mail account and order items from the computer. Then at 3:02 p.m. that afternoon, a 49-year old female of Springfield was transported to a West Plains mental health facility in lieu of a mental commitment order. Anyone with any information regarding the burglary or identity thefts reports, which are still under investigation, is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The City of Salem Board of Alderman received an invitation from Royal Oak to tour their facility on Tuesday, November 9^th at 9:00 am. The Board has accepted the invitation to attend the tour.

Project Graduation will be holding a fundraiser at Pizza Inn in the Crossroads Shipping Center tonight from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to take a night off from cooking to help raise funds for Project Graduation!

Taylor Potts threw three touchdown passes, as the Texas Tech Red Raiders scored 21 unanswered points to take down the 14th- ranked Missouri Tigers, 24-17, in Big 12 action at Jones AT&T Stadium. Blaine Gabbert completed 12-of-30 passes for 95 yards for the Tigers (7-2, 3-2), who have lost two in a row after starting the season with seven straight wins. Kendial Lawrence carried the ball six times for 96 yards and a touchdown, while Marcus Murphy rushed for 74 yards and a score on three carries in defeat.

Ty Conklin stopped 27 shots for his first shutout of the season to lift the St. Louis Blues to their seventh straight win with a 2-0 defeat of the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden Sunday night. Alex Steen scored both goals for the Blues, who have a seven-game winning streak for the first time since posting eight straight from October 15- November 5, 2002. On Saturday, Brad Boyes supplied the decisive goal in the shootout, as the red-hot St. Louis Blues defeated the Boston Bruins, 2-1, at TD Garden. The Blues will be Columbus Wednesday night at 6:00.

The St. Louis Blues have announced that defenseman Barret Jackman has been placed on injured reserve with a sprained knee. Jackman will be re-evaluated in three weeks. The Blues have recalled defenseman Ian Cole from the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Sebastian Janikowski hit a 33-yard field goal less than three minutes into overtime as the Oakland Raiders took a 23-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC West battle. Matt Cassel was 20-for-35 with 216 yards, two scores and an interception while Dwayne Bowe and Verran Tucker each caught a score for the Chiefs (5-3), who were coming off an overtime win of Buffalo and had a two-game winning streak snapped. The Chiefs play at Denver Sunday.

Former Mizzou Basketball standout J.T. Tiller was selected by the Idaho Stampede with the first pick of the eighth round in the 2010 NBDL Draft. Tiller, who starred four seasons at Missouri, finished his career fifth all-time with 131 games played, eighth with 166 career steals and 10th with 332 assists. The Idaho Stampede are affiliated with the Portland Trailblazers and Denver Nuggets of the NBA.
