It is the Intercounty Electric Cooperative Board of Directors’ policy and management’s practice to periodically update their members on the financial condition of the cooperative and promptly inform them of any decisions made that will impact their future electric bills. 2007 has been a good year for the cooperative due in part by starting the year with almost $700,000 in the revenue deferral account. This year Intercounty experienced a larger margin to a cold January and spring and the unseasonably high temperatures in August. The Board of Directors accepted management’s recommendation during its October board meeting that the 2007 margin be reduced by $1.2 million by discounting electric bills during the month of December 2007. The average residential consumer using an average of 1,200 kWh’s per month should show a credit of about $43.00. At a September meeting, the 2008 wholesale rate adjustment was announced and will be 25.3 percent. The rate adjustment increase passed through to Intercounty members would be somewhat less than one half cent per kWh used or about $6 more per month for the average residential member. The rate adjustment is projected to be in effect no sooner than April 2008.
