An accident occurred at 10:30 Friday night in Dent County on Dent County Road 4080 about five miles north of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, a 1997 Ford F-150 driven northbound by 16-year old Luke Thomas of Salem, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree, and traveled down an embankment before coming to rest. Thomas suffered no injuries, but two occupants in the vehicle did suffer minor injuries: 16-year old Randall Bradford of Salem and 16-year old Jeffrey Stokes of Boss. Both were taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by the Salem EMS. Everyone involved was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Ford F-150 sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by Whitakers Towing.

An accident happened Friday night at 10:35 in Reynolds County on Highway 21 at Centerville. According to the highway patrol report, a 1991 Chevrolet driven northbound by 21-year old Shonda M. Parker of Bunker, ran off the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. Parker suffered moderate injuries in the accident and was taken by ambulance to the Advanced Healthcare in Ellington. The Chevy was totaled and removed from the scene by Wisdom Towing. Parker was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident.

The Salem Police Department released their reports for last Monday and Tuesday. On October 27th at 5:33 pm, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of South Pershing in reference to someone urinating in public. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 62-year old Salem male for indecent exposure. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On October 28th at 8:31 am, an officer was sent to Classic Joyride Auto Sales in reference to a stolen vehicle. The investigation of the report revealed person(s) unknown took a black and silver 2001 GMC SLT short bed 4X4 truck from the lot. The truck is valued $13,995.00. Then at 9:45 am, an officer was dispatched to the Salem High School in reference to an assault. That investigation revealed that a 15-year old female juvenile of Salem, had assaulted an 18-year old female of Salem. Further investigation led to the detention of the 15-year old juvenile who was released to her parents. The report will be forwarded to the juvenile officer. At 4:57 pm that afternoon, an officer was sent to the scene of an accident in the 500 block of Highway 19. During the investigation of the accident, the officer observed a 24-year old Salem female who had an active warrant for her arrest from the City of Salem. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who posted bond on the warrant and was released with a date to appear in court. At 8:27 pm that evening, an officer was dispatched to the Crisis Center on Doss Road in reference to a runaway juvenile. The investigation of the report revealed that a 16-year old male juvenile of Salem, had run away from the facility. The juvenile was located a short time later and released to the custodians. At 10:03 that night, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of East Center in reference to a domestic assault. The investigation of the report revealed that a 30-year old Salem male had assaulted a 30-year old Salem female. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. Anyone with any information regarding the stolen vehicle, which is still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The Salem Board of Aldermen will hold their next regular meeting tonight in the city hall council chambers starting at 7:00. At the meeting, Dottie Link wants to complain about how she was treated at the last alderman meeting she was at as well as the utility department. The board will also address bids to do bodywork on a Salem Police Car damaged at the police station. After the consent agenda, the each member of the board will discuss miscellaneous items before Mayor Gary Brown reports on activities in the city. The board will discuss Bill #3143 that will authorize the mayor to execute an agreement between the city ad the MRPC for technical assistance in applying for a natural resource land and water grant. In new business, the board will call for a municipal election and set the salaries of elected officials. After the bills are approved the meeting will adjourn. The meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Tigers moved to the playoffs with a 49-13 win over St. James Friday night. Yousef Ibrahim was the leading rusher with 173 yards, and Derrick Freeman added 106 yards on the ground and scored 3 touchdowns. Cody Wofford had two touchdowns on the ground and another through the air. Johnny Boyd and Brandon McCarter also scored for Salem who moved to 8-2 on the year. Jeff Wolfert kicked a 34-yard field goal with 2:31 left in the fourth quarter as 14th-ranked Missouri avoided the upset and edged Baylor, 31-28, in Big 12 play at Floyd Casey Stadium. Heisman Trophy hopeful Chase Daniel completed 30-of-38 passes for 318 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions for Missouri (7-2, 3-2 Big 12), which has won two straight games after dropping the previous two. Derrick Washington led the Missouri ground attack with 97 yards on 14 carries, while Jimmy Jackson added a rushing score. Chase Coffman caught 10 passes for 75 yards with a pair of touchdowns, while Tommy Saunders had seven grabs for 109 yards in the win for the Tigers.

Miroslav Satan registered a goal and two assists as Pittsburgh doubled up St. Louis, 6-3, at the Scottrade Center. Barret Jackman, T.J. Oshie and Patrik Berglund scored for the Blues, who have lost four of five. Chris Mason took the loss after allowing five goals on 27 shots.

Kurt Warner threw two touchdowns as the Arizona Cardinals pounded the St. Louis Rams, 34-13, at Edward Jones Dome. Marc Bulger went 16-for-33 with 186 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions and Torry Holt had six catches for 58 yards and a score for the Rams (2-6), who have lost their past two games.

Matt Bryant drilled a 34-yard field goal in overtime, after Tampa Bay scored a late touchdown and two-point conversion to get to the extra session, to give the Buccaneers a 30-27 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Tyler Thigpen threw for 164 yards and a score on 14-of-25 passing for Kansas City (1-7), which lost its fourth consecutive game despite scoring 24 points in the first half.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jason Isringhausen filed for free agency on Saturday.

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Webster of Steelville, age 88, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Interment will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis.

Funeral services for Lonnie Sullins of Licking, age 64, will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the Fox Chapel in Licking. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Craddock Cemetery.

Memorials services for Reginice Selena Heiligtag of Salem, age 55, will be held at a later date. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem.
