The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles was not present at the meeting as he was at a Regional Workforce Investment Conference. Commissioner Tune acted as the Presiding Commissioner for the meeting that got underway late due to Commissioner Simpson having to attend an appointment at 9:00. In the road report, Simpson reported that Dent County Roads 2450, 2460, 5110, 5130 and 5630 were being graded. He said that brush was being cut on Dent County Road 5630 and other workers were working on a truck. Commissioner J.J. Tune stated that grading was going to be done on Dent County Roads 2150, 3330, 3333, 3335, 3337 and 3340. Commissioners Tune and Simpson approved the request, and speed limit signs will be created and erected. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that over 990 absentee ballots have been requested. Absentee voting will continue until Monday afternoon at 5:00 at the Dent County Clerk’s office. She said that her office would be open Saturday from 8:00 until 12:00 noon for those who wish to vote absentee. She said that voting would be held Tuesday from 6:00 AM until 7:00 PM at your designated voting location. Curley did say that if anyone is not sure where their voting location is, or if they are not sure what school district they are since there is a school issue on the ballot, they should call the Dent County Clerk’s office at 729-4144. She further reported that the poll workers training was held on Tuesday and everything went well.
