The Dent County Sheriff’s Office has issued some reports. On Sunday, October 19th at approximately 6:29 PM, a homeowner called the sheriff's office and reported there was a unknown vehicle on her property and she wanted a deputy to check it out. A deputy responded and discovered a silver Equinox hidden from the road behind a large pine tree. The vehicle was towed off the property. On Monday, October 20^th, the owner of the Equinox, Mrs. Dorothy McDonald (Canaday), came into the sheriff's office where she was advised of her legal rights which, she waived and admitted to parking the vehicle at the residence.  Mrs. McDonald was issued a uniform citation for Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Then on Wednesday, October 22^nd, at approximately 4:28 in the afternoon, Dent County Deputies were being assisted by U.S. Marshals performing compliance checks of registered sex offenders. Law enforcement arrived at a residence on Dent County Road 6280 in Dent County. The address was where Darrell D. McDonald, a registered sex offender, was currently residing. The officers were met on the front porch by Mrs. Dorothy McDonald  (Canaday). She stated that Mr. McDonald was not home. They advised Mrs. McDonald (Canaday) that they were doing a compliance check with all the registered sex offenders in the county. Upon entering the kitchen area, a deputy observed three black digital scales lying on the kitchen table. The digital scales were seized as evidence and were later field-tested. Two of the three digital scales tested positive for methamphetamine. The scales will be sent to the Missouri State Crime Lab for further analysis. The investigation is ongoing. The above information is just mere accusation, and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of any charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

The Salem Police Department released reports involving a shoplifter, theft, and possession of drugs, damage to a door and theft of fuel. On Sunday, October 12^th at 1:04 pm, an officer was detailed to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 60-year old Salem female for stealing merchandise valued $127.26. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. That afternoon at 3:07, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft from a rental property in the 100 block of North Warfel. The investigation of the report revealed someone unknown took fencing material valued $450.00 from an outbuilding. On Tuesday, October 14^th at 7:23 pm, an officer was detailed to Walmart in reference to shoplifters. That investigation led to the arrest of a 21-year old female and a 24-year old male both of Bunker, for stealing merchandise valued  $150.28. The two suspects were issued summonses to appear in court and released. On Wednesday, October 15^th 10:10 am, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference shoplifters. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 37-year old female of Edgar Springs, and a 31-year old Salem male for stealing merchandise valued $17.10. The suspects were issued summonses to appear in court and released. That night at 9:51, an officer was at a residence in the 600 block of South Jackson conducting an investigation. During the investigation, a 24-year old female was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and a 23-year old Salem male was found to be in possession of Heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Both were incarcerated pending the application for warrants. On Thursday, October 16^th at 1:44 in the afternoon, an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Jackson in reference to damage to a door. That investigation revealed a person or persons unknown forced open a door to a residence causing damages valued $100. Later that afternoon at 4:16, an officer was detailed to the Mobile convenience store in reference to a theft of fuel.  Investigation of the report revealed the driver of a black two-door car pumped $10.00 in fuel and left without paying. On Friday, October 17^th at 11:38 pm, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 35-year old Salem male for driving while intoxicated.  He was issued a summons to appear in court and released.
