Be listening to KSMO Radio Tuesday morning and afternoon for a candidate forum featuring the candidates in contested races for local offices for the Republicans and Democrats. The Republican Candidates will start things off at 11:00 and those in attendance will feature candidates Glenn Hall for Associate Circuit Judge, Dennis Purcell for First District Commissioner, Tim Bell for Sheriff, Scott Radford for Assessor, Jim Kotschedoff for Public Administrator, and Chris Raulston for Coroner. The Democrat Candidates will be featured at 2:30 and will include Brandi L. Baird for Associate Circuit Judge, Bob Herndon for First District Commissioner, Rick Stallings for Sheriff, Tina (Pryor) Whitaker for Assessor, Kirk Hogan for Public Administrator, and Gina White for Coroner. Stan Stevens will host the interview sessions and each candidate will have ten minutes to tell the audience about themselves, and why they would make the best candidate for the office they are seeking. The Salem Police Department released a number of their reports. On Thursday, October 11th at 1:11 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that someone took a portable septic tank valued at $200 from a camper parked in the 300 block of East Margaret. That evening at 6:16, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 200 block of West Rolla Road in reference to an assault. The investigation of that report revealed that a 13-year old male juvenile and a 14-year old male juvenile, both of Salem, had assaulted a 16-year old male juvenile of Salem. All juveniles involved were contacted and the report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office for further review. On Friday, October 12th at 12:10 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to a missing 15-year old female juvenile. That investigation led officers to a residence in the 1300 block of South Washington where the juvenile was located after a short foot pursuit. The juvenile was released to her parents and the report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office for further review. That same afternoon at 2:58, an officer was dispatched to Phil-Mart in reference to a theft of fuel. The investigation of the report revealed that the driver of a dark colored Oldsmobile pumped $41.32 in fuel and left without paying. On Saturday, October 13th at 6:00 in the evening, an officer made contact with a 26-year old male of Salem who had two active arrest warrants from Phelps County and the Rolla Police Department. The suspect was taken into custody on the warrants and released to the custody of a Phelps County Deputy. At 11:55 pm, an officer made contact with a 26- year old male of Salem who had reportedly hit a curb at the Salem High School and was at a residence in the 800 block of East Third beating on a door. The investigation of the incident led to the arrest of the suspect for driving while intoxicated and trespassing. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.
An accident occurred at 5:30 Sunday evening in Maries County on Highway 63 about two miles south of Vienna. According to the highway patrol report, 33-year old Sean Boettcher of Rolla was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle then ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a fence, and overturned several times. Boettcher suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to the University Medical Center in Columbia. He is being charged with driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, failure to wear a seat belt, and consuming alcohol while operating a motor vehicle. The Chevy was totaled and removed from the scene by Plaza Towing.

The San Francisco Giants needed 10 innings and another clutch hit from Marco Scutaro to capture their second World Series title in three years with a 4-3 Game 4 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Scutaro hit a two-out humpback liner off Phil Coke in the 10th and Sergio Romo fanned the top of Detroit's lineup in succession to finish off the sudden sweep of the AL champs to give the franchise its seventh World Series crown.
Kendial Lawrence ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns to help the Missouri Tigers claim a 33-10 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in SEC play at Faurot Field. The triumph marked the Tigers' (4-4, 1-4 SEC) first conference victory as a member of the SEC. Starter Corbin Berkstresser was benched after throwing interceptions on consecutive passes to open the second half. James Franklin, the former starter who missed most of the previous two games with a knee injury and barely practiced this week, entered and completed 6-of-9 passes. Missouri will play at Florida on Saturday.
Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes and the New England Patriots engineered a tremendous all-around effort in a 45-7 rout of the St. Louis Rams at Wembley Stadium in London. The Rams (3-5) attacked the New England beleaguered secondary on the game's opening series as Chris Givens hauled in a 50-yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford, but it was all New England after that. The St. Louis Rams are now in their bye week.
Carson Palmer had two touchdown passes to lead the Oakland Raiders to a 26-16 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Matt Cassel went 20-for-30 with 218 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Chiefs (1-6), who have lost four straight and have yet to hold a lead in regulation this season. The Chiefs play at the Chargers on Thursday.
