The Salem Police Department has released their reports for property damage, a stolen credit card, fight in progress, and active warrants. On Friday, October 21^st at 10:25 in the morning, an officer was contacted at the police station in reference to property damage. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown damaged a vehicle parked in the 300 block of East Roosevelt Street and took stereo equipment from it that is valued $919.48. Later that afternoon at 3:10, an officer was contacted at the police station in reference to a stolen credit card. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown took a credit card of another and charged $108.57 in goods. On Saturday, October 22^nd at 9:34 that night, an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of South Water Street in reference to a fight in progress. The investigation led to the arrest of a 33-year old male of Salem for disorderly conduct and a 31-year old female of Salem for disorderly conduct. They were both issued summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, October 23^rd at 6:48 in the evening, an officer made contact with a 24-year old male of Salem who had two fugitive warrants from Dent County and one fugitive warrant from Crawford County. He was taken into custody on the warrants and incarcerated. U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson announced that high school juniors in the Eighth Congressional District have one week remaining to submit their applications for the nation’s five service academies.  Congressional offices have the privilege of nominating outstanding students who wish to serve, and Emerson designates an Academy Review Board to make these decisions. Emerson has designated a staff contact for information about the application, nomination and appointment process: Heather Peugh in the West Plains office of the Eighth Congressional District (417) 255-1515. The five U.S. service academies are: The U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO, The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, The U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London, CT, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, and the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges everyone to be safety-minded on Halloween. Motorists are reminded to pay attention for trick-or-treaters of all ages. Young children excited by Halloween could dart in front of a vehicle. Slow down, and drive with extra caution. If you are headed to a costume party, make sure the costume doesn’t hamper your vision while you’re driving to the event. Trick-or-treaters should keep costumes short to prevent tripping and wear light-colored clothing or add reflective tape to dark costumes to make them visible. Trick-or-treaters are urged to take a flashlight and an adult should always accompany small children. Adults that are attending a Halloween party that includes alcohol, make sure you have a sober, designated driver for the trip home. Alcohol, even in small amounts, slows reaction time and dulls the senses. Drinking alcohol could have a sad and possibly deadly result. The Missouri State Highway Patrol wishes all a safe, happy Halloween.

Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, recorded four traffic fatalities during the month of September. This is the same amount of fatalities as in September of 2010. The total number of fatalities for 2011 now stands at 24, which is four more than last year. In the county breakdown, there were 19 accidents reported in Dent County with 13 injuries, 29 accidents in Crawford County with 12 injuries reported, and 53 accidents were reported in Phelps County with 20 injuries and two fatalities.  The other fatalities occurred in Maries and Pulaski County.  In September of 2011, there were a total of 168 accidents with 87 injuries and four fatalities; while the 2010 figures for September showed that 195 accidents occurred with 116 injuries and four fatalities. Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, wants to remind everyone those cooler temperatures, shorter days, and occasional fog and frost are signs that winter is just around the corner. This is a good time of the year to get your vehicle safety checked so it will be ready for winter driving conditions.

Bo Dean rushed for four touchdowns to help the Osage Indians beat the Salem Tigers 42-0 Thursday night. Salem only had 126 total yards of offense and finishes the year 5-5 and 1-2 in district play. This game will be played back this afternoon on KSMO Radio at 3:15 starting with Tiger Talk with Coach Bill Schuchardt and KSMO’s Stan Stevens. With the win in the wild game last night in St. James by a score of 80-75, the Owensville Dutchmen claim the District wild card.

Down to their last strike twice, the St. Louis Cardinals rallied to force Game 7 of the 2011 World Series. David Freese was a hero two times over, hitting a walkoff homer in the 11th inning to give the Cardinals a 10-9 victory over the Texas Rangers in Game 6 on Thursday night after tying it with a two-run triple in the ninth. Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer in the 10th for the Rangers, but Lance Berkman replied with a two-run single for the Cardinals to tie the game at 9-9. The Rangers had won two straight games and were seeking their first ever World Series title but will have to face the Cardinals again in Game 7, scheduled for tonight in St. Louis. You’ll be able to hear it on KSMO starting with the pre-game show at 6:00.

The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a two-year option on right-handed pitcher Adam Wainwright, who missed the entire season after having elbow surgery in February. The deal is worth $9 million in 2012 and $12 million in the second year. Wainwright left spring training to have his right elbow examined and then underwent surgery. The 30-year-old was coming off a career season, when he went 20-11 and finished second in NL Cy Young Award voting.

The St. Louis Blues will be Calgary playing the Flames tonight at 8:00. and in Edmonton Sunday night at 7:00. You can hear Sunday night's game on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Tiger football team will be in College Station Saturday to face the 16^th ranked Texas A&M Aggies. The game will get started at 11:00 and you’ll be able to hear it on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Rams will be hosting the New Orleans Saints Sunday at noon. The Rams are still looking for their first win of the year.

Funeral services for James ‘Radis’ Skaggs of Viburnum, age 84, will be held today at 10:00 at the Look Out Assembly of God Church in Viburnum. Interment will be in the Czar Cemetery in Viburnum.

Visitation and Funeral Service for Emma Daugherty, age 98, will be today from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, Missouri. The internment will be in the St. Charles Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to the Lupus Foundation and the Alzhimers Foundation.

Funeral services for Francis ‘Scotty’ Eugene Scott of Steelville, age 78, will be held Tuesday at 1:00 at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Britton Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville with funeral rites by the VFW of Cuba at 7:00. Interment will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis.

Funeral services for Roy Wayne Howard Sr. of Salem, age 64, are incomplete at this time, but are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
