Halloween is Saturday, October 31st and the hours for Trick-or-Treating in Salem, as set by the City of Salem Board of Alderman are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Halloween can be fun for everyone. Keep costumes short to prevent tripping and consider make-up rather than masks. Wear light-colored clothing or add reflective tape to dark costumes to make them visible. If out after dark, make sure you have a flashlight with you, stay in groups, and only visit familiar houses that are well lighted. Never enter a stranger’s house or vehicle. Be sure and remind your trick-or-treaters to wait until they home to sample treats. Drivers need to be alert as young children excited by Halloween could dart in front of your car. Slow down and drive with caution. Adults planning on attending a party that includes alcohol need to make sure they have a sober designated driver. Let’s all work together to make sure that everyone has a Happy and Safe Halloween. Two streets will be closed for church activities: South Water from Franklin to Hunt, and Doss from Highway 32 to Roosevelt.
