The Giants find themselves on the brink of another World Series appearance after scratching out a Game 4 victory on Wednesday with a shutdown bullpen effort and a three-run sixth inning. Buster Posey finished with three RBI as the Giants overcame an early deficit and downed the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-4, on a calm night at AT&T Park. San Francisco hold a 3-1 lead in the series and can advance to the Fall Classic for the third time in five years tonight with Madison Bumgarner on the mound. The Cardinals will counter with Adam Wainwright, who has not made it through five innings in either of his postseason outings this year. You can hear Game 5 of the NLCS tonight on KSMO starting with the pre-game show at 6:32.

After nearly three decades of toiling as one of baseball's peasants, the Kansas City Royals are once again kings of the American League. Behind yet another outstanding effort from their overlooked pitching staff, the remarkable Royals finished off a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with a 2-1 triumph in Game 4 of the AL Championship Series to reach the Fall Classic for the first time since 1985. Alcides Escobar came through with two hits and the game's biggest play in Kansas City's eighth consecutive win of this postseason, knocking the ball loose from Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph on a first-inning slide that enabled the first two runs to score. Jason Vargas and a bullpen that's been virtually impenetrable during these playoffs took it from there, with the Orioles mustering a mere three hits other than Ryan Flaherty's solo home run in the third inning.

The St. Louis Blues will be in Los Angeles tonight to face the Kings at 9:30. The Blues are 1-1 on the year and KSMO Radio will join this game in progress following the Cardinal game.
