The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) e-Permit system enables hunters, anglers, and trappers to purchase, print, and immediately use all Missouri sport-hunting and sport-fishing permits, along with trapping permits and the Apprentice Hunter Authorization. Commercial permits and lifetime permits will continue to be sold through MDC’s Central Office by calling 573-751-4115. Hunters, anglers and trappers can buy e-Permits online and print the paper permits 24/7 anywhere they have access to a computer and printer. You can still purchase permits from vendors, and by phone by calling toll-free 1-800-392-4115. The fee for e-Permits is $1. There is no additional fee for permits purchased from vendors. Hunters, anglers, and trappers are encouraged to put their paper e-Permits inside zipper-type sandwich bags to help protect them from moisture and other damage. E-Permits can be saved on computers and extra copies can be printed in case one is lost or ruined. As always, permits may not be shared, and additional copies of a permit do not provide additional valid permits for the buyer or others to use. For more information or to buy e-Permits, visit www.mdc.mo.gov.

October 17th through October 24th is Federal Radon Action Week according to Surgeon General. Health agencies throughout the United States have joined forces to promote awareness of the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. The American Lung Association, Centers for Disease Control, and the National Cancer Institute all agree that radon is a National health problem and encourage radon testing during the October awareness drive. Radon is a naturally occurring, invisible and odorless radioactive gas. It caused more American fatalities last year than carbon monoxide, fires, and handguns combined. If a home has not been tested for radon in the past two years, contact your state radon office for information on locating qualified test kits or qualified radon testers. Learn more about the Federal Radon Action Plan at www.RadonPlan.org.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will be in Mountain View tonight at 6:00 to face the Lady Eagles. Salem is still looking for their first win of the year.

Staked with a four-run lead, Chris Carpenter and the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen shut down the Milwaukee Brewers to win Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, 4-3, at Busch Stadium Wednesday night. The Cardinals batted around in a four-run first inning, though their NL Central rivals chipped away at the lead and pulled within a run when Mark Kotsay homered into the right-field bullpen leading off the third. But Carpenter allowed just one more hit in his five-inning start and a relief effort consisting of Fernando Salas, Lance Lynn, Marc Rzepczynski, and Jason Motte combined for four perfect frames to take a 2-1 series lead. Albert Pujols continued his torrid postseason by going 2-for-2 with two walks and a run-scoring double, while David Freese added to his October heroics with three hits, including the deciding RBI double in the first. Game 4 will pit Kyle Lohse against Randy Wolf, and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30.

The St. Louis Blues will be in Dallas tonight to face the Stars at 7:30. This is the first game of a four game road-trip for the Blues. St. Louis will take a plane to California from Dallas for three games against San Jose, Anaheim, and Los Angeles.
