The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Thursday morning at the courthouse.  During review of the minutes of Monday’s meeting Presiding Commissioner Skiles said that it needed to be added that when he visited areas along the Dent County river ways that the toilets at Cedar Grove were also locked.  Skiles went on to say that it should be added to the minutes that the Commission also voted to re-appoint Salem Mayor Gary Brown to the TAC Board.  Dent County Treasurer Denita Williams reported that the year to date Dent County Sales Tax is down $18,552.38 for 2013 when compared to 2012 and that the Law Enforcement Sales Tax is down for nearly the same amount.  In the road report District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading was being done on Dent County Roads 5400, 6493, and 6283 and that materials were being hauled to county roads 5420 and 5510.  Purcell went on to say that brush was being cut on county roads 6150 and 6170 and that he had a man screening brown rock.  District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading was being done on Dent County Road 4380, and that materials were being hauled to and grading done on county road 2120. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that he would be attending a Transportation Advisory Committee meeting Thursday afternoon, followed by a MRPC External Relations Committee meeting.  Skiles also said that he would attend the MRPC Board Meeting Thursday night.  Skiles went on to say that Richard Allen would be in next Thursday to discuss the Juvenile Division program and the request made for additional money.  Skiles said that he was going to contact Preston Kramer with MoDOT and make sure that MoDOT’s low water bridge on Highway TT near Sligo be kept on the priority list that was reviewed at Monday’s meeting.  The Commissioners signed the county’s health insurance agreement concerning the share of the deductible that the county pays.  Skiles also reminded citizens that the Courthouse would be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day and there would be no Commissioners meeting.  The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 in the courthouse and it is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released their report for the month of September. During the month, they wrote three equipment repair orders, 14 summons to appear in court, 38 warning tickets, and 46 traffic tickets. The Salem Police Department investigated 22 accidents, six assaults, two burglaries, three reports of disorderly conduct, three reports of domestic assaults, one report of domestic violence, one report of driving while intoxicated, one report of driving while revoked, one report endangering the welfare of a child, one report of fraudulent use of a credit and/or debit device, two reports of harassment, one report of indecent exposure, and four reports of leaving the scene of an accident. The department also investigated two reports for a parole violation, two reports of a peace disturbance, three reports of property damage, 19 reports of stealing, one report of a suicide, one report of urinating in public, one report of an exparte violation and/or full order of protection and five 96 hour commitments. They also investigated one report of possession of amphetamine, one report of possession of heroin, one report of possession of marijuana, two reports of drug paraphernalia and two reports of distribution/delivery/manufacturing/producing/possessing a controlled substance. The police department received 1,814 calls for service during the month, handled 136 walk-ins to the station, and redirected 73 calls to the animal control officer. There were five 911 calls, 15 calls for a peace disturbance, three calls for alarms sounding, five calls for fights in progress, and 12 ambulance assist calls.  The Salem Police Department drove a total of 7,682 miles and arrested 27 males and 10 females during the month of September.

Tessa Johanning pitched a five inning no-hitter for the Sullivan Eagles to end the season for the Salem Lady Tigers as Sullivan amassed 13 hits en route to a 10-0 win at the Knights of Columbus Field in Washington in the district semi-final. The Lady Tigers finish the year with a perfect 6-0 record as SCA Champs, and finish the season with a 15-9 overall record. Congratulations to Coach Jake Reardon and the Salem Lady Softball Tigers!

The Salem Football Tigers will host Mountain Grove tonight at 7:00 and it will be Senior Night. Salem enters the game with a 3-3 record and 1-2 in the SCA. You can hear the game live online only at ksmoradio.com starting at 6:30 and fidelitylocal6.com at 7:00. KSMO will air the game on a delayed basis at 8:30 Saturday morning.

Joe Kelly will take the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals tonight as they host the L.A. Dodgers and starter Zach Greinke at Busch Stadium for Game One of the National League Championship Series. You’ll be able to hear Game One tonight on KSMO at 6:32 and Game Two on Saturday starting at 2:32.

The 25-ranked Missouri Tiger football team will be on the road this weekend when they play at the 7-ranked Georgia Bulldogs Saturday morning at 11:00. Missouri is 5-0 on the year and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Blues will host the New York Rangers Saturday night at the Scottrade Center. The Blues are 3-0-0 on the year and you’ll be able to hear the game on KSMO at 6:30.

The St. Louis Rams will be in Houston to play the Texans, and the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Oakland Raiders. The Rams are 2-3 on the year while the Chiefs sit at 5-0. Both games are set for a Sunday kickoff at noon.

Funeral services for Leo Christopher of Rolla, age 83, will be this morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Rolla City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Missouri S & T Baseball Program.

Funeral services for Robert Foust of St. James, age 72, will be at 11:00 Saturday at the St. James Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary.  Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Funeral services for Joann (Radford) Young of Bixby, age 71, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Viburnum. Visitation will be tonight from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Daisy Eileen Myers of Bixby, age 86, will be held 1:00 Sunday at the Salem Chapel on James and Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery.
