The Salem Tiger Football team will host Willow Springs tonight at the SHS football field at 7:00. Salem is 3-2 on the year and 1-1 in the SCA. Tonight’s game is homecoming and the candidates for this year include Erica Rushing representing the Sophomore class, Savannah Hanning representing the Junior class, and the senior queen candidates are Gabby Sanderson, Gracie Fiaoni and Kristin Hemkin.
The Salem Lady Tiger softball team fell to Union by a final score of 11-8 Thursday night. Payton Curley hit two home runs and Kirsten Strebe added two RBI, but the Lady Tigers fell to 13-8 on the year. Salem will host Mountain View Liberty on Monday at 4:30 for Senior Night.
The Salem Lady Tiger Volleyball team lost to Cabool in two sets on Thursday. Salem is now 0-12 on the year and will play Rolla on Tuesday.
Adam Wainwright turned in seven brilliant innings to lead the way for the St. Louis Cardinals in a 9-1 rout of the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 1 of the Division Series from Busch Stadium. Backed by a seven-run bottom of the third in which eight consecutive Cardinals reached base, Wainwright permitted just three hits and struck out nine. Carlos Beltran socked a three-run homer during the third- inning barrage, while David Freese went 2-for-4 with a two-run single. Game Two of the NLDS will be today and you can hear it on KSMO at 11:32.
David Backes, Vladimir Sobotka, and T.J. Oshie scored in the first half of the first period, helping St. Louis take a 4-2 decision over Nashville at Scottrade Center. Alex Steen added a power-play tally and Alex Pietrangelo contributed a pair of helpers for the Blues, who won their second consecutive season opener. The Blues will host the Florida Panthers on Saturday at 7:00.
The Missouri Tigers will open up SEC play Saturday, as they’ll play at Vanderbilt. Missouri is 4-0 on the year and you can hear the game on KSMO starting with pre-game show at 4:30.
The St. Louis Rams will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday while the Kansas City Chiefs will be in Tennessee to play the Titans. The Rams are 1-3 and the Chiefs are 4-0. Both games are set to start at noon.
