The Dent County Sheriff’s Office has released their report for an arrest warrant that was served on Tuesday, September 24th in the 800 block of County Road 4150. Arrested on the warrant was 48-year old Henry Fann of Salem. During contact with Fann, he was also found to be in the possession of 1.5 grams of a crystalline substance. The substance later field-tested positive for Methamphetamine. He is currently being held in the Dent County Jail on a no bond warrant though Dent County and a $150 cash only warrant through the Salem Police Department.  Fann was currently out on bond for Possession of a controlled substance. The above information is just a mere accusation, and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of any charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released their report of a drowning that took place in the Gasconade River at the Wilbur Allen Conservation Area in Wright County. On Saturday, September 29th at 3:25 in the afternoon, Jeremy Hinkemeyer of Rolla was attempting to cross the Gasconade River. He then went under water and failed to resurface. Wright County Coroner Ben Hurt pronounced Hinkemeyer dead at the scene at 9:36 that night. His body was taken to the Craig Hurt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove.

An accident occurred at 3:45 Friday afternoon in Dent County on Highway 72 about seven miles south of Highway 32. According to the highway patrol, Elton Claybon of Florissant was driving a 2005 Freightliner east when he traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Claybon suffered minor injuries and was taken by Reynolds County ambulance to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. He was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The 2005 Freightliner was totaled and was secured at the scene.

An accident occurred on Thursday at noon in Iron County at County Roads 80A and 1. According to the highway patrol report, 55-year old Barry Wetzler of Steelville was riding a 2005 Honda motorcycle north when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn. Wetzler suffered serious injuries and was flown by Air Evac to the Barnes Jewish Hospital. He was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident. The Honda sustained minor damage and was removed from the scene by a private individual.

The 2013 NASP Nationals Archery Tournament was held in Louisville, Kentucky in May of 2013.  This tournament and its participants have been recognized for the title of “largest archery tournament”, which resulted in each one being entered into the Guinness World Record achieved by NASP students, including some Salem Upper Elementary students. Each student has been provided a code to apply for and purchase his or her own Guinness World Record certificate. Archers that participated in this particular tournament from Salem were: Jacob Blackwell, Drew Christesen, Dawson Conway, Londyn Cook, Dillon Fleener, Sydney Gambill, Nina Howard, Jimmy Metcalf, Kira Lacy, Noah Leathers, Wilman Midyett, Megan Myslinski, Kennison Parker, Baylor Petty, Connor Pilkington, Jacob Terrill, and Mackenzie Whitaker. Congratulations to the Salem Upper Elementary Guinness World Record students.

Three Salem turnovers in the first half that led to 21 points helped propel Ava to a 28-7 lead at halftime and they cruised to a 44-7 win over the football Tigers Friday night. Salem’s lone touchdown was on a ten-yard run by Dylan Wisdom. Salem was held to under 100 yards offense by the Ava defense. Salem is now 3-2 and 1-1 in the SCA and will have their homecoming game Friday night against Willow Springs at 7:00. The Homecoming Candidates for this year include Erica Rushing representing the Sophomore class, Savannah Hanning representing the Junior class, and the senior queen candidates are Gabby Sanderson, Gracie Fiaoni and Kristin Hemkin.

The Salem Lady Tiger Softball team will be playing at St. Clair this afternoon. The Lady Tigers are 11-7 on the year and the game will get underway at 4:30.

Jon Jay, Daniel Descalso and Shane Robinson each drove in a run to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 4-0 win over the Chicago Cubs in the final game of the regular season. Joe Kelly (10-5) picked up the win after tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. He allowed three hits and fanned five in the win. St. Louis tied the Boston Red Sox for the top record in the majors, and hold home-field advantage throughout the playoffs starting on Thursday against the National League Wild Card winner.

Salvador Perez went 3-for-4 and homered for the second straight game as the Kansas Royals clipped the Chicago White Sox, 4-1, in the season finale from U.S. Cellular Field. Brett Hayes also homered in the triumph while Johnny Giavotella had a pair of hits and two walks. Bruce Chen (9-4) capped an impressive season by allowing a run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Kansas City finished with 86 wins, it’s most since winning 92 games in 1989.

James Franklin completed 20-of-29 passes for 255 yards and three scores as the Missouri Tigers used a strong second half to take down the Arkansas State Red Wolves, 41-19, in a non-conference matchup at Faurot Field. James also added 33 yards and a touchdown rushing for Missouri (4-0), which is off to its best start since 2010 when it opened with seven straight wins. The team ran for 239 yards, with Russell Hansbrough leading the way with 96 yards on just eight carries. Dorial Green-Beckham hauled in four passes for 95 yards and two scores, while L'Damien Washington tallied six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. Missouri will play Vanderbilt this Saturday night.

Alex Smith threw three touchdown passes while getting plenty of help from his defense and special teams, and the Kansas City Chiefs maintained their surprising early-season success with a 31-7 rout of the wayward New York Giants. Smith shook off a pair of interceptions to throw for 288 yards on 24-of-41 passing, while Jamaal Charles accumulated 127 yards from scrimmage and caught one of Smith's touchdown strikes to help Kansas City (4-0) to its best four- game start to a season since 2003. The Chiefs will play the Titans on Sunday.

Funeral services for Rondall Wisdom of Bunker, age 68, were held today at 11:00 at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Bunker. Interment will be in the Greeley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the McSpadden Funeral Home for funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Norma Jean Yates of Salem, age 76, will be held Tuesday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 that morning until service time. Interment will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery in Phelps County. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Arnold J. Nash of Salem, age 83, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 5:00 until 7:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Funeral services for Terri Sue Tobey of Salem, age 53, will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 Tuesday. Interment will be in the Jadwin Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jadwin Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Donna Shoults of Montauk, age 81, will be held Thursday at 1:00 at the Grace Community Church in Salem. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 until service time. All arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home in Licking.
