If you have received a letter last week concerning a change in your address from rural addressing stating that mail to your old address will not be forwarded after October 1, 2009, that is incorrect. The people affected by this late address change would have the mail from their old address delivered until October 1, 2010. The area affected includes about 35 addresses in between the city limits at the junction of Highway 32 and 72 West to Route F on Highway 32. If you have any questions or need more information, contact the Salem TCRC at 729-8163.

In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services in state parks and historic sites, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an informational meeting on Saturday, October 3rd at Dillard Mill State Historic Site near Dillard.  The meeting will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the site's office. Staff from the historic site will present an overview of the site, discuss last year's developments and accomplishments, and review recent activities and repair plans for the mill and mill dam. The public is invited to share comments or ask questions about development or operations of the historic site. Based partially on previous comments and input from the public, the Department recently stabilized the foot bridge leading to the mill and the Honeymoon Cottage, which serves as a pump house for the mill. Volunteers also put in a historic garden. Dillard Mill State Historic Site is located one mile south of Dillard off Highway 49. People requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can make arrangements by calling the historic site directly at (573) 244-3120 or by calling the Department of Natural Resources toll free at 800 334-6946 (voice). For information about Missouri state parks and historic sites, visit the Web at www.mostateparks.com.

Governor Jay Nixon’s reformed system of awarding state license offices has reached two milestones. Now, more than half (94) of the state’s 183 offices have been awarded under the new system. In addition, the annual amount of money that the reformed process will return to the state has surpassed half a million dollars. Of the seven offices awarded this week is Licking. The Licking License Office will continue to be run by Alicia J. Swindell of Licking. Swindell has operated the office since 2005. The office attracted one bid, and it will stay at its current location of 104 E. Highway 32.  No return to the state was included in the bid. All local license offices provide services that are overseen by the Department of Revenue, but an independent contractor operates each office. Transactions that are conducted at these offices include the issuance and renewal of driver licenses, issuance of titles for motor vehicles, and the issuance and renewal of registration for motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors.
