Larson went on to say that ditch repair was being done on county road 2070 and the materials were being hauled to county roads 5240, 3140 and 2070. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that he has a meeting in Rolla today with State Representative Robert Ross, of Texas County, for the purpose of discussing the efforts in Jefferson City by State Senator Kurt Schaefer to eliminate the Solid Waste Districts funding. Skiles went on to say that he, along with other county and city officials, would be in Columbia Wednesday morning for a meeting with Senator Schaefer. Schaefer is the architect of the effort to eliminate the Solid Waste Districts and his efforts are motivated by the variability of the quality and quantity of services provided by the Districts. Skiles said that in some Districts the funds provided for the program by the Missouri Legislature have not been wisely spent and in others too much of the funds have gone for administrative costs.  According to Skiles operation of some Solid Waste Districts is not administered as it is in the Meramec Region. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said Heather Haslay, Auditor with the Department of Public Safety, had been in to review the web-based grants.
