^th at 9:00 p.m. an officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of East Fourth Street that led to the arrest of a 37-year old St. Clair man for driving while license revoked and a domestic assault. He was incarcerated pending the issuance of a warrant. On Saturday, September 12^th at 2:45 a.m. while on patrol in the 100 block of North Hickory, an officer discovered a vehicle that had traveled off the roadway and was disabled in a creek ditch. Investigation of the incident led to the arrest of a 24-year old Salem man for driving while intoxicated, an open alcohol container and traffic violations. He was transported to Salem Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Warrant was applied for on the charges. On Monday, September 14^th at 8:00 am, officer was detailed to 1203 East Highway 32, U.S. Food Cash and Carry in reference to property damage. Investigation revealed that sometime over the weekend, a person or persons unknown had broken off the metal handrail at the front door entrance. The handrail valued at $100 and could not be located. Anyone with information on the property damage report, which is still under investigation, is ask to contact the Salem Police at 729-4242.

The Salem R-80 Board of Education will conduct their regular monthly meeting tonight at the district administrative offices boardroom beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda including the minutes from the previous meeting along with bills, the food service report, the attendance report and the substitute list, will be communications. Superintendent Steve Bryant will then address the district activity calendar, give a facilities update, address the H1N1 flu preventative measures at the schools and give a CEE member update. In new business there will be several programs evaluations including those on climate, safety and the co-curricular/extracurricular activities. The Board will then discuss the CIA-PLC leadership teams, amend tuition rates, address the MUSIC renewal, consider Board of Education policy JFCI-AP, and Board of Education committee assignments. The Board will then vote to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing personnel and discipline. The regular monthly meeting of the Salem R-80 Board of Education is open to the public.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is seeking comments on a draft Total Maximum Daily Load, or TMDL, document describing pollutant reductions needed to improve water quality in the Indian Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek, and Courtois Creek study areas. The Department determined Indian Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek, and Courtois Creek are impaired due to lead and zinc and do not meet water quality standards. A TMDL is a study of the impaired waters that establishes the maximum amount of a pollutant the waters can absorb before their quality is affected. The draft Indian Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek, and Courtois Creek TMDLs propose targets for lead and zinc to improve the water quality of the creek. The Indian Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek, and Courtois Creek TMDL information sheet also includes background information on the water bodies, provides an overview of the situation and usually includes a data sheet and map of the water bodies. Copies of the Indian Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek, and Courtois Creek TMDLs and supporting documents can be obtained by calling the Department's Water Protection Program at 800 361-4827 or (573) 751-6623. The public is encouraged to participate in this process with comments regarding the content of the document. The program will accept written comments regarding the Indian Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek, and Courtois Creek TMDLs through Wednesday, October 7^th. The Dent County Schools, Salem R-80, Oak Hill R-I, Green Forest R-II, Dent-Phelps R-III, and Northwood R-IV, will be closed on Monday, September 21^st.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 22^nd.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host the Licking Lady Wildcats tonight at the Salem High School Gym starting at 6:00 with the JV action. KSMO Radio will carry the varsity contest tonight starting at about 7:00. The contest can also be heard online at www.ksmoradio.com.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers will be at Steelville to face the Lady Cardinals today starting at 4:30.

Cody Ross finished 3-for-4 with two RBI as Florida used an early burst of offense to top St. Louis, 5-2, in the rubber match of a three-game set between the clubs from Busch Stadium. Albert Pujols collected two hits and had a late RBI for the Cardinals, who skidded to their fifth loss in six games. Their magic number to clinch the NL Central title dipped to nine when the Cubs lost at home to Milwaukee Wednesday night. Joel Pineiro (14-11) dropped his second straight decision, tagged for 10 hits and four runs over 5 1/3 frames. The Cardinals host the Cubs for three games beginning Friday.

Placido Polanco had a pair of hits, including the eventual game-winning RBI single during a two-run sixth inning, as the Detroit Tigers edged the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, in the middle test of a three-game set at Comerica Park. Mitch Maier went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Royals, who won 11-1 in the series opener. Alex Gordon and Miguel Olivo each drove in a run for Kansas City, which had won seven of eight. Lenny DiNardo (0-1) lasted 5 1/3 frames, giving up four runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and a walk to take the loss. The Royals and Tigers will wrap up their series today with an afternoon contest.

It was an emotional night for Detroit fans at last night's game with Kansas City, as they thanked Ernie Harwell, who was the voice of the Tigers for more than 40 years. The 91-year-old Harwell made a speech halfway through the third inning. Harwell, who retired from the broadcast booth after the '02 season, was recently diagnosed with inoperable cancer of the bile duct.

The St. Louis Rams signed linebacker Paris Lenon and wide receiver Ruvell Martin on Wednesday. To make room on the roster, the Rams waived linebacker Quinton Culberson and tackle Eric Young.

Kansas City Chiefs have signed wide receiver Lance Long to the practice squad and released wide receiver Rodney Wright from the practice squad.
