The Salem Police Department released their reports involving an ambulance assist, thefts, traffic violation, loitering, domestic dispute, and an accident. On Thursday afternoon, September 9^th at 3:15, an officer was detailed to Wal-Mart in reference to an ambulance assist. The investigation of the report revealed that person or persons unknown had placed glue on a toilet seat, and a 17-year old Salem man had set on the seat, gluing himself to the seat. On Friday, September 10^th, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a stealing incident. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown took a Winchester 30-06 rifle from a 1995 Ford F-150 located in the 100 block of East Fifth Street between 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. the day before. Later that evening at 6:30, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 33-year old Salem man for an open alcohol container and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. Later on that night at 10:30, an officer observed a male subject loitering around a residence in the 1100 block of East Center Street. The investigation of the incident led to the arrest of an 18-year old Salem man. He was issued a summons for a minor in possession of intoxicants and disorderly conduct and was then incarcerated on the charges. On Saturday, September 11^th at 4:00 pm, an officer was dispatched to the Ranch Motel in reference to an accident and a possible domestic dispute. The investigation of the incident led to the arrest of a 45-year old Bixby man for stalking, property damage, violation of an ex-parte order, and traffic charges. He was incarcerated pending the issuance of a warrant. On Sunday morning, September 12^th at 1:15, an officer was sent to the Mobil Convenience Store in reference to shoplifting. The investigation of the incident led to the arrest of a 26-year old Salem woman for shoplifting $7.00 of merchandise. She was issued a summons to appear in court and the merchandise was returned to Mobil. Later that afternoon at 4:20, an officer was detailed to the 500 block of North Missouri Highway 19 in reference to an accident. The investigation of the accident led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Salem woman for driving while in a drugged condition. She was issued a summons to appear in court and was transported to Salem Memorial District Hospital for treatment. Anyone with information on the theft of the rifle or the Wal-Mart incident is asked to contact the Salem Police at 573-729-4242.

A Beef Cattle Grading Clinic and Pasture Walk will be held on Thursday, September 23^rd starting at 3:00 pm at the Salem Livestock Auction and will feature Corbitt Wall with the USDA-MO Livestock and Grain Market News Service. The clinic will provide information on the USDA feeder cattle grading system to include muscle, frame and condition scoring. After the grading clinic participants will have time to eat in Salem before heading to the Pasture Walk which begins at 6:30 pm at the Denny and Mary Beth Pogue Farm, which is located by taking Highway 68 north to Highway F, go about two miles to the farm entrance on the right. The Pogue’s own and operate a commercial beef farm and have used the Management Intensive Grazing for about 15 years. MU Extension State Beef Nutrition Specialist Dr. Justin Sexten will serve as a guest speaker. There is no cost for this program. The Salem R-80 Board of Education will conduct their monthly budget workshop on Tuesday, September 21^st at the district administrative offices boardroom beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda, Superintendent Cindy Rumpf will conduct the budget workshop. There will then be a question and answer period following the workshop. The monthly budget workshop of the Salem R-80 Board of Education is open to the public.

The Dent County Schools, Salem R-80, Oak Hill R-I, Green Forest R-II, Dent-Phelps R-III and Northwood R-IV will be closed on Monday, September 20^th. Classes will resume again on Tuesday, September 21^st.
