On Tuesday, September 4th at 9:30 in the morning, Dent County Deputy sheriffs traveled to 2890 Highway 19 North in Dent County to attempt to locate Joseph King for failing to register as a sex offender. Upon arriving, deputies spoke to the owners of the house in reference to King, who had been staying with them. The deputies were given consent by the resident owners to search the residence, but King was not located. The owners then gave the deputies consent to search Joseph’s bedroom, but no search was conducted. The residence was secured by a Sheriff's Deputy until Deputy Atkinson could apply for a search warrant on the residence. A search warrant was granted, and deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol returned to the residence to serve the search warrant at 11:43 that morning. During the search, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Joseph King was later located and arrested on charges of Failing to Register as a Sex Offender, Possession of Paraphernalia and Possession of up to 35 grams of Marijuana.  Joseph King is being held at the Dent County Jail on a $10,000.00 cash only bond.
