The Salem Police Department released their reports. On Saturday, August 17
th at 12:42 in the afternoon, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 31-year old male of Salem for driving while revoked. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. At 7:20 that evening, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to an assault. The investigation of the report revealed that a 37-year old female of Salem had been assaulted by another female at the Al Brown ballfields. On Monday, August 19
th at 7:23 in the evening, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a passenger of the vehicle, a 41-year old male of Fredericktown, for possession of amphetamines. He was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On Tuesday, August 20
th at 2:09 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of North Washington in reference to a disturbance. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 35-year old male of Salem for disorderly conduct, property damage and peace disturbance. He was issued summons to appear in court and incarcerated on a 12-hour hold. At 3:00 pm, an officer located a 23-year old female of Salem who had an active warrant from the City of Salem. She was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated pending a court appearance. At 10:41 that evening, an officer was contacted at the Dent County Sheriffs Department in reference to an assault. The investigation of the report revealed that a 36-year old male of Salem had assaulted a 29-year old female of. Further investigation led to his arrest for 2nd degree domestic assault and felonious restraint. He was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. Anyone with information about an ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.
The public is invited to attend an open house at Onondaga Cave State Park on Saturday, August 31st. The informational meeting will begin at 11:00 am in the nature room of the park’s visitor center. In conjunction with the open house, the park will also host “My Oh My Where Have All the Bats Gone?” from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, which features fun family activities focused on bat conservation. Representatives from the park will be on hand to review recent activities and projects at the facility. Visitors will be invited to share comments regarding park operations and services. This open house is part of an ongoing effort by Missouri State Parks to ensure that citizens have input on facilities and services offered in state parks and historic sites. “My Oh My Where Have All the Bats Gone?” will include activities, raffles and giveaways as visitors learn about the importance of bat conservation and preservation. Presentations and trivia games about bats will take place throughout the day with bat-oriented prizes. Participants can watch a movie about bat conservation; play a game about bat fact or fiction or just visit to learn about these incredibly fascinating masters of the night skies. Onondaga Cave State Park is located seven miles southeast of the Leasburg exit off of Interstate 44 on Highway H. The Salem Lady Softball Tigers will host the Newburg Lady Wolves starting at 4:30 today at the Salem City Park Field. You will be able to hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmorado.com beginning with Tiger Talk and Coach Jake Reardon starting at 4:15.
City of Salem Youth Flag Football Program is coming up quickly. Sign-ups will be held on Thursday, August 29th and Friday, August 30th from 4:00 to 6:00 and the Final sign-up will be held on Saturday, August 31st from 9:00 am until noon. Sign-ups will be held in the front lobby at the Salem Freedom Activity Center (formerly the National Guard Armory). This league is for all boys and girls that are currently in the 3rd to 6th grades. The St. Louis Cardinals are showing no signs of slowing down, as they knocked around Cincinnati Reds ace Mat Latos and notched their ninth win in 11 games with a 6-1 victory on Tuesday at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals banged out 11 hits and received an RBI from five different players to stretch their NL Central lead to 1 1/2 games over the Pirates. Joe Kelly (6-3) worked through eight hits and three walks to allow just one run. Kelly is 6-0 in eight starts since joining the rotation on July 6. The Cardinals and Reds play again tonight and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting at 6:40.
Alex Gordon capped Kansas City's big eighth inning with a three-run double and the Royals bested the Minnesota Twins, 6-1, to open a three-game series at Target Field. Billy Butler added a solo homer in the ninth as Kansas City has won three in a row on the heels of a seven-game slide. The Royals and Minnesota Twins will play again tonight at 7:10.

Funeral services for Delphia Schafer of Salem, age 93, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary Salem Chapel. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.
Funeral services for Mildred A. Simpson of St. James, age 88, will be held this morning at 11:30 at the St. James Chapel of James and Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 10:30 until service time.
Funeral services for Gary Lee Seneker of Salem, age 58, will be held this evening at 7:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial services for Leslie Ann Fry of Eminence, age 29, will be held tonight at 7:00 at the Eminence Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Eminence. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 at the Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the Amaura Fry Education Fund at the Bank of Salem. Cards will be available at the fellowship hall.
Funeral services for William Sidney Black of Rolla, age 70, will be held Friday at noon at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be from 10:00 until time of service. Memorials may be made to the family of William Sidney Black.
Memorial services for Alexis Marie Henson of Newburg, age 11, will be Friday at 5:30 at the First Baptist Church in Viburnum. Visitation will be at the church from 4:30 until service time. Memorials may be given to the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
A Graveside service for Kenneth Melvin Sampson of Spartanburg, South Carolina, age 75, will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Lake Springs Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Lamb of God Lutheran Church or the Soup Kitchen in Spartanburg, South Carolina. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
