The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Thursday morning in the Dent County Courthouse. Dent County Treasurer Denita Williams was in to give an update on CART receipts for August, which were $54,082.17.  The amount was up $323.90 from August 2013 and the year to date total is up $16,231.85. In the road report District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2400, 5600, 6410 and 6420, while brush would be cut on county road 4100. Purcell went on to say that he had a man screening brown rock and that two trucks were hauling white rock to the Tiger Trail project at the Upper Elementary as part of the County’s $5,000 commitment to the project. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that he also had a truck hauling white rock to the Tiger Trail project. Larson went on to say the Judicial Building parking lot had been graded and that a man had repaired the water pump on the brush cutter saving the County several dollars.  Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that a revised purchase order for the PolyCom System had been submitted which reflected an increase of about $90.00. The Commissioners approved the revised amount of $5,794.41. Skiles went on to say that he would like for the Commissioners to submit a letter to the US Army Environmental Command as the Department of Army considers the 2014 Supplemental Programmatic Environmental Assessment, which proposes that the enlisted and civilian work force at Fort Leonard Wood be reduced by over 5,000 by the year 2020.  Larson and Purcell indicated they would sign the letter once Skiles prepared it. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley again reminded voters that the last day to register for the November 4th election is October 8th. Curley added that several citizens had been in to make address changes and that she appreciated media efforts to help with this. At 10:00, the Tax Rate Hearing was held.  General Revenue was unchanged at $0.035 per $100 assessed valuation and Road and Bridge was unchanged at $0.2550 per $100 assessed valuation. The Senate Bill 40 Board requested a reduction from $0.15 to $0.1350 per $100 assessed valuation, while the Senior Citizens Services Board requested an increase from $0.0467 to $0.0475 per $100 assessed valuation. All the rates were approved by a 3-0 vote.  The next meeting of the Commission will be Monday morning in the Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
