The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. At the meeting, Dent County Surveyor Craig Ruble was in attendance to inform the commission that the plat books are not ready yet, but with final approval from the commissioners, the wall maps would be ready within a week. He said that the plat books should be ready in three to four weeks, but said absolutely no later than the end of September. Ruble said that he still had some of the old plat books available and would give them to the clerk so that they had a book if someone had to have a book immediately. In the road report, District One Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading was going to be done on Dent County Roads 4210, 5080, 5610, 6520, 6540, 6550; and brush would be cut on Dent County Roads 5100, 5103, 5105 and 6580. Purcell also said that workers would be hauling rock from the creek. District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading was going to be done on a number of short roads. The roads to be graded included Dent County Roads 2590, 2595, 2600, 3180, 3185, 3350, 4350, 4353, 5245 and 5250. Larson stated that brush would be cut on Dent County Road 3330 and the workers were servicing Dent County Truck #118. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles gave the commissioners a form for a grant from the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District to get a tire trailer in Dent County to collect county and city government vehicle tires. At the last meeting, the county opened bids for the new grader but no decision was made. The commissioners also talked with Jason Sivils with the engineering firm Grant Rivers Associates to discuss the bridge replacement for the bridge in District 1 in the Bunker area that was deemed unsafe by MoDOT. He left a contract, but the commission will wait to see what the status is on the funding before making any decision. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be held Monday morning at 9:00 at the Dent County Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors held their tax rate meeting and regular monthly meeting Thursday evening in the hospital library. The current tax year valuation increased about 1.4 million dollars for estimated real estate and personal property in the four counties served by the hospital to $221,425,709. The hospital budgeted $425,000 tax revenues for the 2011 year. Last year, the board used a tax rate of 19.5 cents per $100 assessed valuation and that same rate would bring about $431,780 in tax revenues. The board approved keeping the rate at 19.5 cents per $100 assessed valuation. In the regular meeting, Stephanie Wofford presented the summary of operations for the month of July. There were 1,867 outpatients registered during the month with 996 people using the emergency room and that set a new monthly record at the hospital. The hospital showed an excess of revenues over expenses of $210,920. Carol Lacy gave the director of nursing report and there were 223 ambulance runs with 225 patients assessed, 17 surgery cases, 204 Home Health visits, 9,535 lab tests, 1,255 radiological procedures, 318 CT scans, 48 MRI scans,18 nuclear med scans, 234 rehab treatments, 230 dialysis treatments and 386 clinical visits. The board reviewed the new electronic medical record timeline.  Pryor then discussed the hospital lagoon situation and reported that the proper soil samples had been taken by Krehbiel Engineering. They are currently waiting on the results that should be in next week. Pryor reported that the hospital had contact with three internists during the month and one emergency room doctor and they will follow up on those leads. The board approved the budgeted purchase of a director’s chair for dialysis for $265 from Automated Business Systems, a geriatric recliner for Long Term Care for $535 from MMS, a Temperature Therapy Pump for Acute Care from MMS for $542, 13 mattresses for Acute Care from Medline for $2,827, a copier for the business office from Ikon for $5,601, and they replaced a Rigid Surgical Scope for surgery for $44,130 from Olympus America, Inc. Non-budgeted purchases approved by the board included a hand-held scanner for Acute Care for $331 from PC Connection, an Oxygen Concentrator for Dialysis from MMS for $497, two lateral file cabinets for SMDH Family Medicine from ABS for $981, two computer systems and monitors for the Pharmacy from ABS for $1,816, and notebook PC for SMDH Family Medicine from CompUSA for $1,585. The board then went into closed session.
