On Wednesday, August 14th, Dent County Sheriff Department Deputies executed a search warrant on County Road 6220 in Dent County. As a result of the warrant, two firearms were found at another residence in Dent County during a consent search. Arrested as a result of the search was 41-year old Robert E. Brown of Jadwin. The search warrant was issued during a narcotics investigation when a "shake and Bake" methamphetamine lab was found near Brown's residence on Saturday, August 10th. Brown is currently being held in the Dent County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond. He was charged with a Class B Felony for the distribution, manufacturing and producing of or attempting to or possessing with the intent to distribute, deliver, manufacture or produce a controlled substance on Saturday, August 10th, then charged with a Class C Felony or possession of a controlled substance and two Class C Felonies for the unlawful possession of a firearm on Wednesday, August 14th. The information presented is just a mere accusation, and is not evidence of guilt. Any evidence in support of any charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

An accident occurred at 12:05 early this morning in Dent County on Highway U at County Road 3180. According to the highway patrol report, 36-year old James Hobson of Salem was driving a 2013 Dodge Dart north when he failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the roadway, and struck an embankment before coming to rest. Hobson then fled the scene. Two occupants of Salem, 36-year old Jenell Gaddy and 36-year old Danny Perkins, suffered moderate injuries and were taken by private vehicle to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. Another occupant, 22-year old Barbara Heniey of Salem, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. No one was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Dodge sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

An accident occurred at 8:15 Friday evening in Texas County on Highway 63 one half mile North of Houston. According to the Highway Patrol Report a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by 43-year old Jonathan C. Welch of Salem, slowed for a vehicle making a right turn when a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 33 year-old Rebecca A. Wolfe of Licking, struck the Camaro in the rear. According to the report both drivers were wearing their safety restraints, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Texas County Memorial Hospital by ambulances. Both the Camaro and the Trailblazer sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene by Jay’s Automotive.

An accident occurred at 12:21 Saturday morning on County Road 5340 10 miles South of Rolla.  According to the Highway Patrol report a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 18-year old Charity N. Bradshaw of Rolla, traveled off the right side of the roadway. Bradshaw overcorrected causing the Jeep to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn. According to the report Bradshaw was wearing a seat restraint and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center by Phelps County Ambulance. The Jeep sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by Dishman’s Towing.

Jon Jay drove in four runs and Adam Wainwright turned in a seven-inning gem to become the National League's second 14-game winner this season, with the pair leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-1 ousting of the Chicago Cubs. Wainwright (14-7) racked up 11 strikeouts while yielding one run on just five hits and a walk. The St. Louis ace was backed by Jay's two hits, one an RBI single and the other a game-breaking three-run homer in the seventh inning. The Cardinals will start a series with the Brewers tonight and you can hear it on KSMO at 6:35.

Miguel Cabrera hit his 40th homer of the season and knocked in three runs, Max Scherzer became the first 18-game winner in the majors and the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals, 6-3, on Sunday at Comerica Park. Kansas City starter Bruce Chen (5-1) gave up six runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings. Billy Butler hit a solo homer and Salvador Perez and Emilio Bonifacio each had an RBI. The Royals have the day off today.

Funeral mass for Paula Dent formally of Salem, age 82, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Salem. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Albert S. Lada of Independence, formerly of Viburnum, age 82, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Boss Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be held tonight from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Eastpoint Family Church-Children's Church.

Military services for Cecil R. Crowe of Salem, age 86, will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at the North Lawn Cemetery. Interment will be at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Lillie Pritchett of West Alton, Missouri, age 71, will be held Wednesday at 12:00 noon at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:30 Wednesday morning until service time. Interment will be in the Platt Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Eastern Star and funeral services for Alice Louise Dale, of Salem, age 84, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Eastern Star.

Funeral services for Beverly Jean Schroeder of Salem, age 68, will be held Thursday at 3:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be held on from 1:30 until service time. Interment will be in the Jadwin Cemetery.
