The Dent County Commissioners regular meeting was held Monday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. At the meeting, Dent County Treasurer Denita Williams reported that after the sales tax revenue was received in August, the General Revenue and the Law Enforcement Sales Tax is down $20,969.88 year-to-date with $10,497.02 of that loss being from the collected General Revenue tax. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that work crews will be repairing and patch grading Dent County Roads 5390, 5460, 5490, 6230, 6240 and 6633. He also warns people to be careful when crossing low water crossings and the Cedar Grove Bridge. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that work crews are repairing numerous roads throughout the district. He did mention that Jenny Jones from MoDOT will be at the meeting next Monday at 10:30 to review the requests for qualifications received by the commission for the new bridge on Dent County Road 3210.  Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he attended a Public Housing Authority meeting last Thursday and this past year, the PHA went $158,479.44 in the hole due to sequestration and other cuts. Reserves will cover that amount this year but funds are becoming more limited. To extend the funds further, the board authorized Bonnie Prigge to issue housing termination letters this September to about 30 people on assistance. The letters will be issued to those on assistance on a first in the program, first out basis except for seniors, those disabled or veterans. Skiles said the annual MRPC Dinner will be held November 14th in Potosi at the YMCA sponsored by Washington County and the City of Potosi. At the MRPC meeting last Thursday, Preston Kramer with MoDOT said the STIP program indicates that within two years, two-foot shoulders will be added to Highway 19 south to Route K from the Central District, and extended from Route K to Highway 60 from the Eastern District. Skiles mentioned that the Missouri Broadband Now Initiative was looking at working with Agritourism when Dent and Washington County representatives brought up that the goal was to provide broadband coverage to all areas and that simply is not the case in these two counties. That should be addressed before Missouri Broadband does anything else. Skiles said that he would be attending a Southern Ozark Alliance for Rural Development meeting today. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said the new yellow voter registration cards are being mailed by precinct and are not all being mailed at the same time, so people will receive their cards at different times. She will announce when all the cards have been sent to see if anyone has been missed or has a problem. Dent County Emergency Management Director Brad Nash brought in information about how the public can report their major damages from the recent storms and flooding. If you had major damages from the flooding to your primary dwelling and personal property or business, please contact Brad Nash at 729-3250 and give him your name and the address of the damaged property and the type of damage incurred: affected, minor, major or destroyed. The county needs to collect a list of all the damages to be submitted to FEMA to see if a grant will be issued to help pay for some of the damages. There is no guarantee that monies will be available from the government, but if you had damages, please report them to Nash. The next meeting of the Dent County Commission will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
