The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse.  In the road report, Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that in most areas it is too dry to grade. He said work continued on Dent County Roads 408 and 410 as a culvert has been replaced and materials have been added to the road. Simpson reported that materials were being added to Dent County Road 624 and a culvert was installed on Dent County Road 660. He said other small road projects were also being addressed. Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that work is being done on the south end of Dent County Road 221 as most of the workers are hauling materials to the hill as it is being rebuilt. Tune also said that brush was being cut on Dent County Road 437. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that a seminar would be held in West Plains on August 15th concerning government employees, the sunshine law and more. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said that Len Morrow from the state archives office will be in Salem on Monday, and he and Dent County Assessor Brenda Bell and Ruth Ann Williams will go over the records to be saved. Curley also presented an elementary shelter grant request for the Agape House to the commissioners which they receive every year. Curley then said that Atkins Printing would be taking the Optical Scan voting machines the county has in for cleaning and servicing. She stated that Stacy Gross from GeoCom would be in town on August 2nd at 10:00 to discuss their rural addressing bid with the commissioners. She said that the tax rate hearing to set all the county tax levies would be held on August 20th at 10:00. The commissioners will consider the request.  At the last meeting, the commissioners opened a bid for culverts from Metal Culverts for a variety of sized culverts at a cost of  $24,975.18. It was the only bid they received, but after a review of the bid, the county had made a typographical error on the quantity of 36-inch pipes needed and it was changed from 24 to 4. The new bid faxed by Metal Culverts was for $14,251.18. The new bid was approved by the commissioners. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
