The Salem Business Revitalization Committees are inviting all Town Hall participants and the general public to attend their next open meeting on Monday, July 30^th at 6:00 at the Salem TCRC in the Salem Freedom Activity Center. Salem Economic Development Director Sharon Tubbs will begin by addressing the entire group with the results of the last town hall meeting, discuss the development of the Vision Statement and discuss the latest DREAM application submitted by the City of Salem. Chairman Stan Podorski will then present a short power point presentation about different options that can be pursued, the need to co-operate with the City of Salem, business owners and property owners, and some possible funding resources to start the process rolling. The large group will then break out into the four designated smaller groups on Financing, Business Attraction and Expansion, Infrastructure and Buildings, and Beautification to gather ideas on how to initiate the process, plan tasks, and write objectives for each group. The entire group will then review and discuss the results of the group discussions before adjourning. The Salem Business Revitalization meeting is open to the public, especially business owners and property owners who would benefit most from this effort.

Salem R-80 Schools have announced the schedule for open houses for all their schools. William Lynch Elementary and the Salem Upper Elementary will hold open house on Monday, August 13^th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The Junior and Senior High Schools will have open house on Tuesday, August 14^th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Enrollment for the 2007-2008 school year for the Salem Junior and Senior High will be Monday through Thursday, August 6th-9^th from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. New students in grades 10^th-12^th will enroll on Monday the 6^th along with new Junior High students in grades 7-9^th.  On Tuesday, August 7^th, Seniors will enroll, as well as 7^th graders and any new high school students. On Wednesday, the 8^th, Juniors will enroll, as well as 8^th Graders, and on Thursday, the 9^th, Sophomores and Ninth Graders will enroll.  Enrollment for Junior High students will be held in the Junior High Library. Senior High Students will enroll in the Senior High Library. School starts on Thursday, August 16^th. 

The Salem Police Department released their reports for the July 7^th through the 13^th involving assault, drugs, disorderly conduct and a fugitive warrant. On July 7^th at 10:13 pm, an officer was detailed to the 600 block of North Henderson in reference to a disturbance. The report revealed that a 17-year old Salem female attempted to assault a 27-year old Salem male with a knife. She was arrested for 2^nd degree assault with a knife and was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On July 8^th at 7:02 pm, an officer was detailed to the 300 block of West Ninth in reference to an assault that led to the arrest of a 46-year old Salem male for assaulting a 29-year old Salem male. He was issued two summons to appear in court and released. On July 11^th at 10:21 am, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of East Fourth. The report led to the arrest of a 46-year old Salem male for possession of marijuana, he was issued a summons to appear in court and released. At 11:47 the same morning, an officer was detailed to the 200 block of South Main for an intoxicated person passed out on the sidewalk. The report led to the arrest of a 58-year old Salem male for disorderly conduct. He was incarcerated and issued a summons to appear in court upon his release. At 11:28 that evening, officers were detailed to a residence in the 700 block of South Jackson in reference to a fugitive. Officers located a 32-year old Salem male, and placed him under arrest on a Probation and Parole warrant from the State of Missouri. He was incarcerated pending extradition. Funeral services for Henry Thomas Adams of Steelville, age 88, will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Steelville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 tonight at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Interment will be in the Pleasant Point Cemetery in Steelville.

Funeral services for Violet Mounce of Summersivlle, age 84, will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Bradford Funeral Home in Summersville. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 9:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
