The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving burglaries, DWI and drugs. On July 17th at 11:43 in the morning, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report of a burglary from a resident located off of Highway 32 west. The incident was reported to have occurred between 9:00 and 11:30 that morning. Entry was gained by forcing a back door to the residence and forcing a front door to an out building. Reported taken were a .17 caliber Remington bolt action Model 700 rifle, 7 gold chains, 5 rings consisting of diamonds, rubies, and pearl, a necklace with diamonds, rubies and pearl, and 4 diamond earrings. On July 19th at 3:29 in the afternoon, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report of a burglary, which had occurred at the Spring Creek Golf Club. It was reported a complete set of golf clubs, gloves, balls, bag, head covers and a raincoat were taken from the #1 shed in which a numerical code has to be used to gain entry to the building. On July 19th at 8:04 in the evening, while on routine patrol, a Dent County Sheriff's Deputy observed a vehicle with a shattered front windshield. Upon stopping the vehicle, further investigation led to the arrest of a 28-year old male who was cited for Operate a Motor Vehicle While License Revoked, Operate a Motor Vehicle while in an Intoxicated Condition and Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Also on July 19th at 9:57 that evening, a Dent County Sheriff's Deputy went to a residence in Salem in regard to a warrant. A 20-year old male was arrested concerning an active warrant. Further investigation at the residence resulted in a 19-year old male being cited for Possession of Under 35 grams of Marijuana. Anyone with any information regarding the burglaries, which are still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Department by calling 729-3241.

The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning.  For the road report, District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that ditch work would be done on Dent County Roads 4220, 5150, 6303 and 6350.  Simpson also said that grading would be done and material would hauled to Dent County Road 6090, and a crew would be on Dent County Road 5390 finishing up a FEMA project.  District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2070, 2083 and 3200 and material would be hauled to Dent County Road 5320.  Tune also said that a crew member would be traveling to Springfield to pick up a load of oil for the durapatcher.  Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that Susan Cunningham with Spatial Data research would be here next Monday at 10:00 to update the Commission on rural addressing.  Skiles said the Salem TCRC, which was chosen to be the counties rural addressing coordinator, will start the first portion of their training this week.   Skiles also reported that he attended a Region I Homeland Security Oversight Committee Meeting last Thursday in St. James. Also at the meeting, Commissioner Skiles read a letter from Prosecuting Attorney Jessica Sparks regarding the Parker/Weaver building.  In the letter Sparks stated that the Department of Health and Human Services could do a qualified inspection of the building at no cost to the county. The Commission stated that they have already contacted Anderson Associates to inspect the building and come up with a plan to make the building compliant with ADA standards and the Commission agreed to stick with their earlier decision.  At the previous meeting, Sheriff Bob Wofford and Deputy Wayne Becker came by to let the Commission know that the Sheriff’s Department had received a donation from Joe Webber in the amount of $650 for first aid kits and that money would be deposited into the Law Enforcement Fund.  Wofford also discussed air conditioning and plumbing repairs the county jail needed.  The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

US Senator Christopher “Kit’ Bond announced that a special listening post forum will be held today at the Dent County Courthouse in Salem beginning at 2:00 pm. A representative of the Senator, Tom Schulte, will be available to constituents at the listening post. Bill Hall provided the late-inning heroics for Milwaukee for the second consecutive game, this time with a game-winning home run in the ninth, as the Brewers edged the Cardinals, 4-3, in the second installment of a four-game series between two teams in the loaded National League Central. Ryan Ludwick hit a solo home run while Rick Ankiel and Yadier Molina had run-scoring hits for St. Louis. Kyle McClellan (2-5) surrendered the home run in the 9th inning to take the loss after a brilliant start by Kyle Lohse. The Cards and Brewers play again tonight at 7:05 on KSMO Radio.

Placido Polanco hit a solo home run and ended with two runs driven in, while Kenny Rogers was solid in six innings to lead the Detroit Tigers past the Kansas City Royals, 7-1, in a game that endured a rain delay of more than two hours. Kyle Davies (3-2) took the loss as he gave up two runs on five hits in four innings of work. Mark Grudzielanek went 3-for-4 and had the only RBI for the Royals, who have let four of their last six games slip away. Esteban German had two hits in defeat. The Tiger and Royals play again tonight in KC.

St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with linebacker David Vobora on a three-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released.

Funeral services for Cecelia M. Craft of St. James, age 68, will be held today at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center Auxiliary or Phelps County Hospice.

Funeral services for Ronald Asher of Steelville, age 68, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be today from 4:00 to 9:00.

Funeral services for Betty Jo Haage of Salem, age 62, will be held Thursday at 1:00 at the New Harmony Church. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Green Forest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Betty Jo Haage Family. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Vance Davis Williams Morago of Salem, formerly of Greenville, Tennessee, age 38, will be held Friday, at 10:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis.

Funeral services for Jeffery Wayne Berry of Viburnum, age 55, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Viburnum. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Palmer Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jeffrey Wayne Berry family.

Memorial services for James Marvin Lile of Salem, age 78, will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Edgar Springs Cemetery in Edgar Cemetery.
