Captain Lee Ann Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a DWI saturation patrol conducted in Crawford County from 7:00 pm on Saturday, July 6th until 3:00 am, Sunday, July 7th. During the operation, troopers placed a special emphasis on patrolling those highways where in the past a higher number of impaired drivers were either involved in a traffic crash or arrested for DWI. During the enforcement operation, troopers stopped 28 vehicles, and issued 34 warnings. There were 21 citations issued that included: one DWI arrest, three speeding summons, six seat belt violations, one driver’s license violation, three uninsured motorists summons, two hazardous moving violations, one non-moving traffic violation, three misdemeanor possession of drug arrests and one felony warrant arrest. Captain Kenley stated, Thus far in 2013, eight fewer people have died on highways within the six county Troop I area when compared to this date last year.  Trends like this can only continue if all motorists take the job of driving seriously.
