The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Monday morning in the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading would be done on and materials added to Dent County Roads 4210, 6210 and 6020. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that brush would be cut on Dent County Roads 2240 and 3120. He went on to say that a driveway pipe would be replaced and materials added on county road 6150. Larson added that he had men checking roads in the northwest part of the county for downed limbs and clogged pipes. He also stated that there would be patching done on chip and seal roads. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles again reminded county residents to carefully check their CenturyLink bills to make sure sales tax is going to Dent County and not another county. Some residents are still experiencing this problem. Skiles encouraged those still having the problem to call CenturyLink at 1-866-519-7885 or 1-800-786-6272 and be persistent. Skiles said, “it is their problem, they created the problem and they need to fix it.” Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said that absentee voting continues for the August 5th election and that her office was preparing payroll for approval. Commissioner Larson mentioned that the chip and seal overlay by West Paving has been delayed due to a machine breakdown. In the next couple of weeks they should be starting work to fulfill the contract for two miles of overlay on the old chip and seal on county roads 3280, 6380 and 5043. Larson also mentioned that he had a couple of men meeting with Thomas Haines of the Forest Service relative to maintenance on Private Road 444 off of Dent County Road 4410. The Commissioners approved payroll. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday at 9:00 in the Courthouse and it is open to the public.
