The Dent County Fire Protection District responded to a couple calls on Tuesday. The first call came in at 9:32 that morning. The Fire District responded to a trailer on fire on Highway 32 east next to the Meramec Bridge. Upon arrival firefighters found 22 large round bales of hay on fire. Firefighters remained on the scene until 4:30 in the afternoon. The Dent County Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire that was fully involved at 11:22 that morning at a structure located on Highway 19 North around the area of JJ Highway. No injuries were reported. The structure was a total loss and was believed to have started from an electrical problem in the house. The scene was under control at 2:00 that afternoon and the Fire District cleared the scene at 3:30. 

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving stealing, stolen renewal license tags and possession of methamphetamine. On Saturday, July 5^th at 8:38 in the morning, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report of a stolen New Holland sickle mower from a residence located off of Dent County Road 2470. The owner saw a mower similar to his at a business in Licking. When he returned home he noticed his mower was missing. The business in Licking was contacted and it was stated the mower was purchased from a resident of Dent County. The mower was returned to the owner. Investigation led to a summons being issued to a 43-year old male for receiving stolen property. Also on Saturday, July 5^th, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report from a resident located off of Dent County Road 6240 that his license plate renewal tabs had been stolen from the license plates on his vehicle. On Sunday, July 6^th at 4:49 in the afternoon, a Dent County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 19 north in regards to speeding.  The driver gave false information relating to his name, date of birth and social security number.  The male subject signed a citation using a false name. He was arrested and the vehicle was searched. The search produced syringes, small plastic baggies and a silver pill container which contained residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.  A 31-year old male was taken into custody on warrants from other jurisdictions and a Dent County warrant was issued for Possession of a Controlled Substance, with bond set at $7,000. The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the stop.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will chip and seal Route 19 from Cherryville, to the intersection of Route 68 in Salem today. Weather permitting, tentative work hours are scheduled from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. and work is expected to be complete by Thursday, July 17^th. This operation was postponed due to rain. MoDOT performs chip-seal resurfacing on roads that are in generally fair to better condition. The benefits include crack sealing, increased skid resistance and correction of minor rutting, which extends the life of the pavement in a cost effective way. Motorists should plan ahead and allow extra time due to a one-lane restriction. Work zone signs, flag persons and a pilot vehicle will be used during this operation.

"It's OK To Get Outside!" special youth learning day is planned for Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00 at the Bonebrake Center. This all-day event will include several concurrent sessions and lots of outdoor activities led by representatives of several regional agencies and organizations, all geared toward helping kids grades K-5 (ages 6-11) finish the requirements for their Ozark Kids' Connection (OK) award. There will be a stream clean-up, nature hikes, gardening, interpretive programs, and stations to help them identify various items (animals, plants, famous people, artifacts, etc.) relevant to Ozark nature or history. This event is free of charge and families with kids ages 6-11 are invited to attend.  ALL children MUST be accompanied by an adult.  Children who have already signed up for the program over the past few months are encouraged to come and complete their program and earn their decorative Ozark Kids patch. To inquire about the Ozark Kids’ Connection program or this special summer event contact Jamin Bray, OK program Coordinator, at the Bonebrake Center at 573-729-3400.

Ryan Howard went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs including the go-ahead homer in the eighth inning as the Philadelphia Phillies edged the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2, in the middle contest of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park. Albert Pujols and Troy Glaus each knocked in a run for the Cardinals, who lost for the fourth time in six games. Kyle McClellan (1-4) allowed a run in an inning-plus of relief and took the loss. Mark Mulder, who has battled shoulder trouble over the last two years, made his first start of the season but lasted just one-third of an inning before exiting with shoulder discomfort. Mulder issued back-to-back walks to Chase Utley and Shane Victorino in the first before clutching his arm and being taken out. Brad Thompson came on in relief and allowed two runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. Jamie Moyer (7-6) looks to keep the Phils on the winning track in the series finale today when he opposes Braden Looper (9-6).

Carlos Quentin hit a pair of two-run homers and scored the winning run in the eighth, as the Chicago White Sox edged the Kansas City Royals, 7-6, in the middle contest of a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. Ross Gload had three RBI and three hits while John Buck was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a solo homer for Kansas City, which has dropped five of its last six. KC's Brian Bannister pitched relatively well but made two costly mistakes to Quentin in allowing five runs on four hits and three walks over 6 2/3 frames. The right-hander struck out six in the no-decision. Robinson Tejeda (0-2) took the loss for Kansas City. The Royals and White Sox finish up their series tonight in Kansas City.

The Spring Creek Golf Club will hold their third annual Junior Golf Program for children from ages four to fifteen. The cost is only $20 for the three clinics and a tournament. The program begins on Monday at the Spring Creek Golf Club. Sign up your child at the clubhouse and leave a contact number so that you can be reached. The clinics include putting, short irons and long irons as well as Tournament and pool party.
