On July 5^th, just after midnight, the Dent County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a party going on at a residence off Dent County Road 502A. Upon entering the residence, deputies found three juveniles ranging in age from 15 to 16 years old and three adults ages 17 to 19.  They also located a 25-year old male hiding in the rear of the residence. Taken into evidence were two marijuana roaches, which field tested positive for marijuana.  Also located at the residence were plant stems and a set of brass knuckles. A 17-year old female was issued a citation for possession of under 35 grams of marijuana. All juveniles present were released to their parents.  The Dent County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Salem Police Department.

An accident happened Friday night at 8:50 in Reynolds County on Route J about 10 miles west of Lesterville. According to the highway patrol report, a Lincoln Towncar driven by 55-year old Susan Barton of Bunker, traveled off the right side of the roadway before she overcorrected and the Lincoln overturned, coming to rest on its top. Barton suffered moderate injuries and was taken by the Reynolds County Ambulance to the Iron County Hospital. The Lincoln was totaled in the accident.

An accident happened Saturday morning at 8:30 in Phelps County on Highway 68 about 12 miles south of St. James. According to the highway patrol report, a 2007 Harley Davidson driven by 43-year old Thomas E. Lyons of Licking, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting Lyons. Lyons suffered serious injuries and was flown to St. Johns Hospital in St. Louis by the Arch Helicopter. The Harley Davidson sustained moderate damages and was removed from the scene by Spurgeons of St. James.

The Salem Chamber of Commerce membership meeting will be held Wednesday at noon at the Salem TCRC. A presentation will be made by Phil Schmidt about the new website and what we can do to help each other. Lunch will be provided by the Daily Bread. Funeral services for Buna Mahan of Salem, age 85, will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 this evening. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Maples, Missouri.

Funeral services for Paul Ray Howard of Bunker, age 22, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Bunker high School Gym. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 today at the McSpadden Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bunker City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Judith Wood of Vichy, age 57, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. James, with visitation tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James.

Funeral services for Bonnie Jean Welker of Potosi, age 71, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 today. Interment will be in the Davisville Cemetery in Davisville.

Funeral services for James E. Malear of Salem, age 75, will be held Wednesday at 5:00 at the Bethany Freewill Baptist Church in Chucky. Tennessee. Visitation will be held today from 5:00 to 8:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Salem. Interment will be in the Bethany Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Chucky, Tennessee.

Funeral services for David Flegel of St. James, age 48, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in St. James. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery.

Funeral services for Irma Jean Ilges of St. James, age 51, will be held Saturday, July 21^st at 2:00 at the St. James Mortuary in St. James. Interment will be at a later date.
