The Salem Police Department released their reports involving tampering with a motor vehicle, a parade disturbance, disorderly conduct and a driving while drugged incident. On Saturday, July 3rd at 12:30 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to the 600 block of South Grand Street in reference to tampering with a motor vehicle. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown had broken into a secured 2000 Chevrolet Lumina. The steering column and ignition were found to be partially disassembled. At 6:30 that evening, an officer was sent to the area of Orchard and Franklin Streets in reference to a disturbance in the parade. That investigation revealed that a 23-year old Salem man was intoxicated and was walking among the horses in the parade, slapping at the horses causing them to react. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct, issued a summons to appear in court and was incarcerated. Then at 10:00 that night, officers were advised of a disturbance in the city park during the firework display. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of an 18-year old Salem man for disorderly conduct who was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. A second 18-year old Salem man was also arrested on the charge of disorderly conduct and also for an assault on a law enforcement officer. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was incarcerated. On Sunday, July 4th at 8:00 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Highway 32 East in reference to a woman passed out in the front seat of a vehicle. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 21-year old Salem woman for driving while in a drugged condition. She was issued a summons to appear in court and was released to a responsible adult. The Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District has distributed some 85 paper recycling bins to schools in the seven-county district. The bins were made available to the solid waste district for the past two years by the Missouri Recycling Association through a grant from Alcoa, In. Letters were sent to schools in Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The only requirement is that the recipient track the volumes of materials recycled with the bins and provide a report at the end of the year. Schools receiving bins over the past two years include Steelville Middle School, Cuba High School, and Dent-Phelps R-3 at Edgar Springs. The Ozark Rivers District includes Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities with populations of 500 or more. Chris Iannetta smacked a lead-off homer off major league newcomer Evan MacLane in the ninth inning and the Colorado Rockies earned an 8-7 win over the Cardinals, picking up their second straight magical comeback win. Cardinals’ manager Tony La Russa elected to go with MacLane for the start of the ninth. MacLane (0-1) was called up from Triple-A Memphis earlier in the day when Adam Ottavino went on the 15-day disabled list.  Iannetta crushed a 3-2 offering over the wall in left field, giving the Rockies their 10th win in the last 11 meetings against the Cardinals. Matt Holliday went 4-for-5 with a pair of solo homers against his former team, but the Cardinals faltered in the late innings again. John Jay also homered for the Cardinals who will play Colorado today at 2:00 on KSMO Radio.

Alberto Callaspo and Mitch Maier hit home runs in the eighth inning, as the Kansas City Royals rallied past Seattle, 7-3, to complete their first road sweep of the Mariners in 15 years. Callaspo's three-run shot was the big blow for Kansas City, which scored six runs in the final three innings in capturing the three-game sweep. It is the Royals' first road sweep of the Mariners since June 12-14, 1995. Billy Butler also homered and finished with two RBI for the Royals, who have won six of seven. Starter Kyle Davies allowed three runs on four hits and four walks in six innings, and did not take a decision. Victor Marte (3-0), Kyle Farnsworth and Joakim Soria each pitched a scoreless inning of relief to seal the win. The Royals are off today.

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed forward Cam Janssen to a one-year contract extension. The 26-year-old Janssen was scoreless in 43 games last season while recording a career-high 190 penalty minutes. During portions of the last five seasons with New Jersey and the Blues, the St. Louis native has scored two goals and added four assists in 206 games while piling up 544 penalty minutes.

The Salem Lady Tiger Softball Summer Camp will he held July 12th thru 15th and July 19th thru 22nd from 8:00 am to 11:00 am for girl's entering 9th through 12 grades and from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm for girl's entering 6th through 8th grades. The Salem Lady Tiger Softball Summer Camp will be held at the blue field next to the old armory, the cost is $20 per camper and each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. Funeral services for Betty Gott of Salem, formerly of Ava, age 78, will be held today at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church in Salem. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Salem or the SBU Salem Campus. All arrangements are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Alvina Penning of Cuba, age 84, will be held today at 2:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a V.F.W. Service at 1:30. Interment will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis.

Funeral services for Gail E. Biggs of Cuba, formerly of Sligo, age 83, will be held today at 2:00 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville. Interment will be in the Stone Hill Cemetery in Salem with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.

Funeral services for Betty Jean Gamblin of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Salem, age 78, will be held today at 2:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Salem.

Graveside services for Frieda Emily Hamilton of Rolla, age 92, will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Shannon County, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Timber Volunteer Fire Department. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel.

Funeral services for Donald P. Whitaker of Salem, age 86, will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Dry Fork Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Burton Eugene Brown of Rolla, formerly of Michigan, age 91, are incomplete at but are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.
