Roadwork continues this week in the KSMO listening area. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be chip sealing routes in Dent, Reynolds, and Shannon Counties. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway at these areas between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. In Reynolds County, chip sealing will be done on Highway 21 from Route HH to two miles north of Highway 72; and chip sealing will be done on Highway 19 from Route EE in Shannon County to Route K in Dent County. MoDOT performs chip-seal resurfacing on roads that are in generally fair to better condition. The benefits include crack sealing, increased skid resistance and correction of minor rutting, which extends the life of the pavement in a cost effective way. When motorists travel a newly chip-sealed road marked by "Fresh Oil" and "Loose Gravel" signs, they should keep their speed down and allow plenty of distance between vehicles to prevent small rocks from coming loose and hitting oncoming traffic. Please allow ample driving time to your destination. For additional information regarding these or other transportation-related topics, call the MoDOT Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636).
