A Dent County Detective Sergeant and a Dent County Deputy arrived on the scene at 9:20 pm and contacted the ER staff and the victim in one of the trauma rooms. The male victim had an obvious gunshot wound to his left hand, and it appeared that the bullet had entered through the palm and exited the back of the hand. He had been sedated and the staff in the ER reports he had indicated he was setting a raccoon trap when he was accidentally shot in the hand.
