An accident occurred at 6:00 Monday evening in Crawford County on Highway 8 at Cedar Lane just West of Steelville. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Ford Mustang driven by 18-year old Breanna Gordon of Bunker was traveling westbound on highway 8 and turned left into the path of a 2002 Honda Accord driven eastbound by 27-year old Brandi Weber of Steelville. Weber suffered moderate injuries and taken to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan by the Steelville ambulance. Gordon and a passenger, 40-year old Amanda Gordon both suffered minor injuries and sought their own treatment. Both drivers were the only ones wearing seat restraints at the time of the accident. The Honda Accord and the Ford Mustang sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Miles Towing.

An accident happened in Phelps County Tuesday afternoon on Route O about three miles south of Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, a 2008 Toyota Corolla driven southbound by 78-year old Doris Dowler was attempting to make a left turn into a private drive and turned into the path of a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis driven northbound by 74-year old Mary Rinne of Licking. The Toyota and Mercury collided, then a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 27-year old Angel Sidwell of Rolla, which was attempting to pass partly on the shoulder, struck the Toyota. Dowler and Rinne suffered minor injuries while a passenger in the Mercury, 77-year old John Tiberghien of Licking suffered moderate injuries. All were taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by the Phelps County ambulance. Everyone involved was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released their arrest reports for June 19th through the 22nd. The first arrest was made on June 19th in Salem at 2:25 in the afternoon as 33-year old Joseph Smith of Salem was arrested on felony warrant for the manufacturing of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Dent County Jail on no bond. The next arrest came in Crawford County Thursday morning at 10:45 as 33-year old Barry Evans of Steelville was arrested on a felony warrant for failing to appear in court on the original charge of possession of stolen property. He was also given a citation for not wearing a seatbelt. He is being held in the Crawford County Jail on no bond. The next arrest was made Thursday morning at 10:52 in Phelps County as 31-year old Jennifer Payne of Rolla was arrested on a felony Dent County warrant for stealing. Payne was held in the Dent County jail on bond. Another arrest was made Friday morning at 8:25 in Dent County as 38-year old Curtis Kuhn of Salem was taken into custody on a felony warrant for driving under the influence. Kuhn was taken to the Dent County Jail and held on bond. Then Friday morning at 9:33, 47-year old Cindy McWhorter of Lecoma was arrested on a felony possession of a controlled substance. She was taken to the Phelps County Jail where she was released. Another arrest was made Friday night at 10:00 when 39-year old Scott Calahan of Steelville was charged with a felony possession of a controlled substance (meth), a misdemeanor possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Crawford County Jail and put on 24-hour hold.

Allen Craig put together a 4-for-5 performance, which included a two-run home run, three RBI and two runs scored, as St. Louis rocked Houston, 13-5, in the opener of a two-game interleague set. Matt Carpenter slugged a three-run triple, while both Carlos Beltran and David Freese added two-run shots for the Cardinals, who emphatically put the brakes on a three-game losing skid. Jake Westbrook (4-2) gave up four runs on as many hits over six solid innings. The Cardinals and Astros play again tonight and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting at 6:35.

Jason Heyward drove in three runs as the Atlanta Braves edged the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, in the opener of a two-game set at Kauffman Stadium. Eric Hosmer hit a two-run homer and Billy Butler drove in one run for the Royals, who will play the Braves again tonight.

The St. Louis Blues agreed to terms with pending restricted free agent forward Patrik Berglund on a one-year contract Tuesday. The 25-year-old forward has appeared in 358 career games registering 92 goals and 96 assists.

Funeral services for Allen Shelton of Salem, age 92, will be held today at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the Green Forest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Green Forest Cemetery or the Dry Fork Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Paul Hogan of Salem, age 89, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial services for June Botkin of Licking, formerly of Salem, age 87, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Donald Wayne Petty of Salem, age 53, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Relay for Life Cancer Fund.

Funeral services for Ivy Watson of Salem, age 65, will be held Friday at 4:00 at the James & Gahr Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be from 2:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Empire Cemetery in Gladden. Memorials are suggested to the Empire Cemetery.

Funeral services for Edith Rosella Hardin Dunn of Steelville, age 86, will be Saturday at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.  Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery.

Funeral services for Nora Miller of Salem, age 97, will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until service time Saturday. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dent County Animal Shelter.

Memorial services for Lindell “Lin” Clonts of St. James, age 85, will be held Saturday at 4:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be from 2:30 until service time. Inurnment will be in the Hibler Cemetery in Steelville. Memorials may be given to the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Rosati or Missouri Veterans Home of St. James.

Military service for Thomas Paul Jones of Salem, age 65, will be Friday at 7:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until the service time at 7:00. Memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars.
