The Dent County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person of interest in a sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday, June 17
th. The subject is described as a white male, approximately 50 years of age, about 5’ 11" with a stocky build. He has a dark complexion, dark eyes and a mustache to go along with salt and pepper short, course hair that is parted in the middle. He also had a gold chain around his neck. He has no known tattoos or scars. The person of interest was driving a truck that was described as a black dually with a silver or diamond plate flatbed, goose-neck or 5th wheel hitch, that had chrome rims and cab lights. The truck was thought to be a Dodge diesel. Any person that has any information about this man is asked to contact Detective Letchworth or Detective Wayne Becker with the Dent County Sheriff’s Office at 573-729-3241.
The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Thursday morning in the Courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said grading would be done on Dent County Roads 5220 and 6240, while materials would be added to county roads 5050 and 6055. He went on to say that he had a man riding with the MODOT bridge inspector checking the bridges in District 1. These inspections are performed every two years. Purcell also said he had a man screening brown rock. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said grading would be done and materials added to Dent County Roads 3300 and 4280, while grading only would be done on county roads 3310 and 3313. He added that he would also have a man riding with the MODOT bridge inspector checking bridges in District 2. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said Tuesday afternoon he attended the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Council meeting. They will be releasing grant packets for applying for recycling grants very soon. It is estimated that there will be $250,000 available for grants. Those interested in obtaining packets should call 265-2993 and ask for Tammy or Lucky to request one. Skiles wanted citizens to know that the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency does have money available for low income housing repairs and utility assistance and those needing information should call Sarah Richmond at 729-3500. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley wanted to clarify that independent voters can exercise their voting rights at the Primary in August by requesting a Non-Partisan Ballot, which consists of the Constitutional Amendments. She went on to remind voters that July 9th is the deadline to register to vote in the August 5th Primary Election. Curley also informed the Commissioners that she had received a letter from the State of Missouri Office of Prosecution Services stating that effective July 1, 2014, full time prosecutors’ annual salaries will be $133,716 subject to the Governors’ approval of the State Budget. MODOT District Engineer Preston Cramer was in to visit with the Commissioners about Constitutional Amendment 7, which if passed would be for 10 years and would provide 5.4 billion dollars for transportation projects. The proceeds from the proposed amendment would be divided with 5% going to counties, 5% to cities and 90% to the state for transportation projects. Cramer encouraged the commissioners and citizens to visit the website, www.modot.org/movingforward, to get more information, to view the draft regional priorities list, or to comment on the list. He also stated a Public Hearing will be held in Rolla on Thursday June 26 at the Rolla City Hall from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Dent County Collector Dennis Medlock and Dent County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Curley were in to discuss the county’s $15,000 collected from the City of Salem to collect taxes for Salem. According to Medlock, most county collectors receive a percentage of the collections for the additional work and expenses that are involved in providing this service done in accordance to State Statute 147.20, subsection 2. He felt that the flat rate of $15,000 used in Dent County was the most efficient way to handle the reimbursement, but felt that the Dent County Collector should be receiving a portion of the fee. During the discussion, Medlock noted that he would continue collecting the City taxes whether the Commissioners approved the proposal or not. Medlock’s proposal was for the Collector’s office to receive $3,000 and the County to receive $12,000. After much discussion, the Commissioners voted 3-0 to authorize Curley to draw up a Resolution authorizing the $3,000 payment to the Collector for the collection of the City of Salem Real Estate, Personal Property and Library Taxes. Before leaving Curley had some questions about getting an easement to the John Stagner Cemetery off of Lough Lane. He has been in contact with City of Salem Attorney Camm Seay and the city wants an easement with a survey. Curley said he needed to take an onsite visit to see what would be the best approach to the Cemetery. Curley and the Commissioners tentatively set Monday June 23rd to make a visit to the site. Commissioner Gary Larson announced that bids for the new bridge on Dent County Road 3210, commonly referred to as the Hospital Road, would be opened on July 21st at 10:00. The Commissioners approved the bills 3-0. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday morning in the Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

Ryan Howard drove in three runs as the Philadelphia Phillies opened a four-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals with a 4-1 win. Matt Carpenter drove in a run while Shelby Miller (7-6) was touched for all four runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings for the Cardinals, who have lost their past two games. The Cards and Phillies play again tonight and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting at 6:40.
J.D. Martinez hit the go-ahead solo home run in the fourth inning, and Detroit held on to post a 2-1 victory over the Royals, snapping their 10-game win streak in Thursday's finale of a four-game series. The Royals will start a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners tonight.

Funeral services for Flo Martin of Cherryville, age 80, will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville. Memorials may be given to the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church.

Graveside services for Betty A. Dudley of Columbia, Illinois, formerly of Salem, age 80, will be held Sunday, June 29th at 1:00 at the North Lawn Mausoleum in Salem. Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the American Legion Auxiliary #99 in Salem.
