Monday morning at the Dent County Courthouse, the Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting. Sharon English spoke first about the records that she and her husband had requested from the prosecutor’s office and that they have found some of them, but not all. The prosecutor’s office is still looking. English said that she is concerned that the record storage system for the county is not adequate and asked if the county could use the meeting room on the second floor of the judicial building for storage, but was informed by Commissioner Simpson that 4-H meetings, Extension Council meetings, and Road and Bridge trainings are held there. She said she spoke with John Korsick from State Archives and he said that a number of the case files in the prosecutor’s office will have to reviewed and marked if they are a felony or misdemeanor by an attorney or para-legal before they can be filed, plus some of those files will need to be kept longer than other county office files. Commissioner Simpson said that Prosecutor Jessica Sparks has not approached the commission with a plan for the storage of the old records, nor has she asked for assistance yet in going through these files. He said that is the prosecutor’s responsibility even if the problem existed from a past administration. Betty Wisdom from Bunker attended the meeting to thank the commission for the work on the roads in the Bunker area. Red Cummings asked Commissioner Skiles about an evening meeting of the commissioners and Skiles said that he was going to bring that up after the middle part of the year, and he would like to include all the county offices. In the road report, Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that grading was being done on Dent County Roads 561, 611, 641 and 647, weather permitting. He said that brush was being cut on Dent County Road 650, and he said that the two district supervisors are working up a list on needed culvert pipes in the county so that they can be given to the vendors that the county uses. Simpson also reported that the citizens on Dent County Road 508 have signed a petition to establish a speed limit on that road and the commission approved a speed of 30 MPH. Commissioner J.J Tune reported that road crews were posting speed limits signs on Dent County Road 428 A&B, but the county was out of “Children at Play” signs and will have to order more in. He said workers were going to patch the chip and seal on the Hospital Road, pull ditches and work back slopes as part of the rebuilding of Dent County Road 221, and brush was being cut on Dent County Road 530. Presiding Commissioner Skiles reported on the MRPC TAC committee meeting and how they would like to have rumble strips and wider shoulders on all numbered highways in the Meramec region. He said he would be attending an Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Managament meeting on Wednesday. Skiles also said that Jim Paisley from SEMA would be in town on Friday to meet with the emergency management committee and look over the local plan. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that a representative from EZ-911 Solutions would be stopping by today. Last Thursday, the county treasurer brought in a transfer for the assessment operating fund for the commission to sign along with a warrant to sign to pay for the recorder’s office expenditure. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.The 13^th Annual Dent County All-School Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 14^th at the Salem High School Cafeteria. Registration and visiting will begin at 10:00 AM. The SHSAA Board will serve lunch at noon and the event is free and open to the public. A $5 donation is asked for lunch and to make the reunion a success. Proceeds from the Reunion fund scholarships for Salem High School graduates. A Memorial Service for Charles E. Wood of Steelville, age 65, will be held Friday at 7:00 at the Brittion-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00.

Funeral services for Joyce A. Wofford of Salem, age 73, will be held Saturday at 10:00 am at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sonshine & Rainbow Day School, Licking Church of Christ or American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Shane Edward Asbery of Portland, Oregon formerly of Rolla are incomplete at this time but under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary of Rolla.
