The Salem Police Department released their reports involving gunshots, trespassing, a traffic stop, and misconduct. On Thursday, June 11th at 5:20 pm, an officer was detailed to the 800 block of North Young in reference to gunshot. The report led to the arrest of a 39-year old Salem man for unlawful use of a weapon. He was incarcerated on the charge. On Friday, June 12th at 5:30 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of West Roosevelt in reference to a disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 19-year old Salem man for trespassing. He was issued a summons and released to appear in court. On Saturday, June 13th at 2:30 am, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation that led to the arrest of a 25-year old St. Peters man for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, June 14th at 9:30 pm, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a sex offense. The report led to the arrest of a 21-year old Salem man for sexual misconduct. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their regular monthly meeting in the hospital library tonight beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the minutes from the May 21st meeting, Administrator Dennis Pryor will give the summary of operations and statistic for the month of May along with the auxiliary report, the hospital activity calendar and legislative issues. Director of Nursing Carol Lacy will then the nursing services and ancillary service reports. In old business there will be a physician office building report, a strategic planning update, the Board will view the SMDH video and address the finance committee 2010 budget approval. In new business the Board will address the election of officers for the July meeting and approve hospital purchases. The Board may then vote to go into Closed Session. The regular monthly meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Dent County Fire Protection District released their reports. On Friday, June 12th at 9:20 pm the Dent County Fire Protection District was paged out to highway 68 due to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival eight firefighters assisted the Dent County Sheriff’s Department with traffic control. The scene was under control at 9:41 pm. On Saturday, June 13th at 2:18 pm six firefighters were paged out to the Seville Care Center to assist the Salem Memorial District Hospital with a patient. The scene was under control at 2:50 pm. At 6:57 that evening nine firefighters were paged out to highway 72 to assist the Salem Memorial District Hospital with a patient. On Sunday, June 14th at 9:00 in the morning, the Dent County Fire Protection District was paged out to Highway 72 due to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival five firefighters assisted the Salem Memorial District Hospital with a patient. The scene was under control at 9:35 am. At 11:47 that morning the Dent County Fire Protection District was paged out to 4th Street in Salem. Six firefighters assisted the Salem Memorial District Hospital with a patient. The scene was under control at 12:03 pm.  

The National Park Service is working on a new general management plan for the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. The last plan was done in 1984, and many things have changed at the park since then. Plan to attend an Open House on the preliminary alternatives of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways on Wednesday, June 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center located at 202 South Main Street in Salem.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Salem invite you to be a part of the 4th of July festivities. There will be an all day flea market, as well as food vendors and a car show at the Commons. The annual 4th of July parade will begin at 6:00 and will run the regular parade route from the old fairgrounds to the Dent County Courthouse. First and second place prizes will be awarded in both commercial and non-commercial categories. Colby Rasmus went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI, while Yadier Molina added three hits, including a solo home run, to power the Red Birds to a 4-3 triumph over the Tigers. Todd Wellemeyer (6-6) scattered six hits, two walks and two runs in 5 1/3 innings, picking up the win for St. Louis, which has taken the first two meetings of this three-game set. Ryan Franklin retiring the side in order in the ninth for his 16th save. The Cardinals and Tigers play again tonight at 6:55 on KSMO Radio.

Stephen Drew finished with two hits, including a bases-loaded triple, and Arizona jumped all over Zack Greinke and the Royals en route to a 12-5 win. Greinke (8-3) got the loss after giving up six runs -- four earned -- in 6 2/3 innings. The Royals starter allowed eight hits, walked two and fanned nine. Greinke took his first home loss of the season, as he yielded six runs for only the second time this year in 14 starts.  Jose Guillen went 3-for-4 with four RBI for Kansas City, which had a four-game win streak stopped. The two teams play again tonight.

Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel announced on Wednesday his on-field staff for the 2009 All-Star Game, to be played at Busch Stadium in the St. Louis on July 14. Manuel named longtime Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa and Dodgers manager Joe Torre to the National League staff.

Funeral services for Wayne Junior Shaw of Rolla, age 80, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Primitive Baptist Church in Flat, Missouri. Interment will be in the Smith Cemetery in Flat with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Primitive Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.

Funeral services for Reverend Donald A. Lunsford of Boss, age 94, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Boss Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be today from 4:00 to 8:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Boss Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services for Pearl Walls of St. James, age 78, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Miles Cemetery.

A Memorial Service for William J. Higginbotham of Rolla, age 72, will be held Saturday, June 20th at 7:00 at the Central Community Church in Rolla. Memorials are suggested to the Central Community Church of God or the American Cancer Society. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.

Funeral services for Robert Gordon Jones of Rolla, age 74, will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 night. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hartsburg, Missouri at 2:30 Monday.
