The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Thursday morning. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2460, 5615 and 6370; and brush would be cut on Dent County Road 5410. Purcell also said that a couple of crew members would be hauling rock and doing repair work on the durapatcher.  District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2330 and 2350, and brush would be cut on Dent County Road 2570. Larson also said that a culvert would be installed and material would be hauled to Dent County Road 4480.  Commissioners Purcell and Larson both attended Tuesday’s Chamber of Commerce meeting where they heard about the Salem R-80 five-year plan from Superintendent Cindy Rumpf and Assistant Superintendent John McColloch.  Commissioner Purcell also attended a Meramec Regional Development Corporation meeting where the main topic of discussion was securing loans for this area’s businesses. Tom Haines with the US Forest Service stopped by the meeting to inform the Commission that the. Forest Service was awarded $175,000 toward the stream crossing improvement concerning the Swiney Bridge on Dent County Road 5680. The next step is to develop an agreement between the Forest Service, Missouri Department of Conservation and Dent County; and once the agreement is in place, a firm in Springfield will start on the design of the bridge.  After the design is finalized by all parties, bridge construction can start. At the previous meeting, the Commission heard from Rob Heberer and Steve Fallent with Erb Equipment on grader warranties. To extend another year of warranty on two graders it would cost the county $4,000 per machine. No decision was made at that time. The Commission also approved the budgeted quarterly transfer of $16,375 from the Senior Citizens fund to the holding account. The next meeting of the Commission will be Monday morning at 9:00 and it is open to the public

The United States Attorney's Office announced that 44-year old James Tebeau of Cape Girardeau has been indicted on drug charges involving a campground known as Camp Zoe, located in Shannon County, MO. The Camp Zoe property consists of over 300 acres of land along Sinking Creek, just east of its junction with Current River. Tebeau operated annual "Schwagstock" music festivals on weekends during May, June and September and promoted an annual "Springjam" music festival held in April and a "Spookstock" music festival each October. According to the allegations in the indictment, Tebeau consciously managed the concerts and campground for the specific purpose of facilitating the distribution and use of multiple controlled substances by the concert patrons. Tebeau was indicted by a federal grand jury on one felony count of operating premises for the facilitation of illegal drug use and a forfeiture claim on the campground.  Along with the filing of the indictment, the United States Attorney’s Office also filed a civil complaint seeking civil penalties and the forfeiture of money derived from the campground’s operation. If convicted, the charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $500,000.  In determining the actual sentence, a Judge is required to consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, which provide recommended sentencing ranges. Additionally, upon a finding of guilt, the proceeds from the illegal activity will be subject of forfeiture to the government. Subject to forfeiture is the Camp Zoe property and over $150,000 in cash and bank accounts. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the South Central Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Keith Sorrell is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Danny Espinosa belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Washington Nationals to a 7-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, completing a three-game sweep. Matt Holliday finished 2-for-3 with a home run in his return from the disabled list, which he had been on because of a quadriceps injury, but could not prevent St. Louis from losing a season-high sixth straight game. Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina had late-game home runs to send it into extra innings, but Fernando Salas (3-1) surrendered Espinosa's home run to get the loss. The Cards will host the Royals tonight starting at 6:40 on KSMO Radio.

Jemile Weeks knocked in three runs and Gio Gonzalez tossed six strong innings to send the Athletics to an 8-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Wilson Betemit, Brayan Pena and Jeff Francoeur all had RBI doubles for the Royals. Royal’s starter Jeff Francis (3-7) went 3 1/3 innings in defeat, giving up six runs on nine hits while walking two. The Royals will be in St. Louis for the weekend.
