Also at the meeting the Commission voted 3 to 0 to put out bids for work on the Judicial Building Annex.  The Commission will open up the bids on July 2nd at 10:00 am; any contractor interested in bidding the job can contact Anderson and Associates in Rolla. On Thursday, June 11th at 2:06 in the afternoon, Dent County 911 received a report that an animal had bitten a 21-month old child. The Dent County Sheriff’s Department responded and was on the scene at 2:20 pm. The child had a laceration to her nose, a puncture wound below one eye and a bruise under the other eye as her mother held her in her arms. The mother and another female present stated that they had not witnessed the injury. Both were unsure which dog had bitten the child, and they did not know where the adult dogs were; although a puppy was on the couch in the living room. Blood droplets were located in the living room in front of a couch at the coffee table. A dog food dish and water dish were observed in the living room near the front door. In a bedroom a blue and white Pit-mix male dog, identified as Dozer was located. The other adult dog was located in another bedroom. The owner of the animals arrived on the scene as the ambulance was arriving to treat the child and provided proof of vaccination. The owner was advised that the animal in question would have to be impounded and quarantined for eleven days. The female child was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital via ambulance and then airlifted to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.
