Billy Butler went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI, and Zack Greinke resembled his 2009 form with a complete-game gem in the Royals' 7-3 decision over the Reds. Greinke (2-8) was masterful in earning just his second win of the season. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner allowed three runs on five hits and struck out a season-high 12 without giving up walk. David DeJesus had three hits -- including a homer -- two walks and four runs scored for Kansas City, which wound up splitting its six-game road trip by winning the rubber match of this three-game interleague set. The Royals are off today.
Chris Young's second homer of the game, a two- run blast in the bottom of the ninth inning, rescued the Arizona bullpen and lifted the Diamondbacks to a 7-5 win over St. Louis in the rubber match of a three-game series at Chase Field. The Cards had tied the game with three runs in the top of the 9th inning. Pujols also stroked a two-run double for St. Louis. Chris Carpenter gave up three runs on six hits over six innings. The 2005 NL Cy Young Award winner recorded eight strikeouts but did walk a season-high five batters. Kyle McClellan (0-2) took the loss of the Cardinals who finished the road trip 1-5. The Cards will be home to face the Seattle Mariners tonight in interleague play starting at 6:05 on KSMO Radio.

A short time after Nebraska's Board of Regents voted unanimously to file an application to join the Big Ten Conference, the Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) announced their unanimous approval. The move comes into effect on July 1, 2011, as Nebraska will start competing in all sports beginning with the 2011-12 academic year.
England and the United States battled to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Royal Bafokeng Stadium to open World Cup Group C play for both teams. England got a goal from midfielder Steven Gerrard in the first five minutes, and U.S. right winger Clint Dempsey fired a shot off England goalkeeper Robert Green just before the first-half break that could go down as one of the worst goals of the tournament. The USA plays Slovenia on June 18 in its next Group C match, while England will face Algeria later the same day in its next fixture.
