The Dent County Sheriff’s Department has reported that two missing boys, age five and six, were returned by their natural mother to their father at the Dent County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday evening.  This resolves an ongoing custody dispute from May.  Investigation revealed that the mother attempted to return the children to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department in May, but miscommunication from that location led the father to believe the children were not there. The father then reported the incident to authorities.  When the children were not picked up by their father, the mother retained custody and contacted an attorney. The mother stated that she was advised to keep the children and a motion would be filed with the court. Through an agreement with the mother’s attorney, the children were returned.  The incident has determined to be civil case and has been closed.

Captain Randy L. Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a Hazardous Moving Violation Saturation patrol conducted in Crawford County on Saturday, June 9th.  During the operation troopers were assigned to patrol highways that, historically, have experienced a higher number of traffic crashes and hazardous moving violations. During the course of an eight-hour period, which began at 11 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m., the five troopers assigned to the saturation issued 30 citations for speeding, five for a person failing to properly wear a seat belt, two for non-moving traffic offenses, and one for a driver’s license violation. The troopers also made two arrests for outstanding misdemeanor warrants.  In addition to these arrests and traffic summonses, the troopers issued 35 warnings. This saturation program resulted in a large number of speed arrests. Missouri Highway Patrol statistics show approximately 40 percent of all fatal traffic crashes in Missouri are speed related. Captain Becker would like to encourage motorists to be especially careful during the busy summer months.

Adam Wainwright was 10 outs from a no- hitter and Albert Pujols drove in three runs, as St. Louis downed Kansas City, 7-3, in the middle game of the I-70 Series at Kauffman Stadium. A grounder to shortstop Aaron Miles, a routine play that would have put Wainwright nine outs from following in the footsteps of Detroit's Justin Verlander on Tuesday, ended in a fielding error. Esteban German then hooked a single to left in the bottom of the sixth. Wainwright (5-5) regrouped and picked up the victory with a career-high eight innings of one-hit shutout ball with three strikeouts and two walks. Wainwright has allowed two runs or less in four of his last five starts. Odalis Perez (3-7) was roughed up to the tune of seven runs on 10 hits with a pair of walks in just three-plus innings. His replacement Brandon Duckworth threw just two pitches before leaving tightness in his left rib cage. David Eckstein left the game in the fourth inning with a lower back injury for the Cardinals while Royals star slugger Mike Sweeney left with lower back tightness after tripping coming out of the batter's box. The Cards and Royals will play tonight starting at 7:00 and you can hear the game on KSMO.
