The Salem Police Department has released their reports. On Tuesday, May 27^th at 6:32 in the morning, an office was detailed to a residence in the 700 block of South Jackson in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that someone took a fuel can containing $21 in fuel. On Thursday, May 29^th at 12:07 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of East Ninth in reference to damage to private property. The investigation revealed that someone damaged a carport door of a residence, causing $200 in damage. Later that afternoon at 1:18, an officer transported a 28-year old Belleville female from Sullivan to the Dent County Jail in lieu of an active arrest warrant from the City of Salem. She was incarcerated pending a court appearance. At 4:35 that afternoon, an officer was detailed to Casey's General Store located on Highway 32 reference a theft of fuel. That investigation revealed that the female driver of a white Kia Sedona pumped $59.01 in fuel and left without paying. Later that evening at 9:20 in the evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to damage to private property. That investigation revealed that an unidentified male damaged a fence in the 600 block of South Jackson. On Friday, May 29^th at 4:09 in the early morning, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation led to the arrest of a 22-year old Salem female for driving while intoxicated. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Friday, May 30^th at 10:34 in the morning, an officer made contact with a 17-year old male near the 1200 block of West Highway 32 regarding an assault investigation. During the investigation, it was found that the suspect was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody, issued summonses to appear in court, and released. Later that evening at 6:41, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 800 block of South Askins in reference to a burglary. That investigation revealed that someone entered a residence by force, took property valued at $12, and caused $100 in damages to property. "Ex-Confederate Reunions of Barnitz Lake, 1897-1917 in Dent County," will be Garrett Gabel's topic for the June Dinner Speaker Series presented by the Dent County Historical Society Tuesday, June 10^th in the Salem Pizza Inn meeting room. Mark Twain National Forest will offer two days of free day use and two free nights of camping on Friday, June 13^th and Saturday, June 14^th. The free use is available in Lane Spring in Phelps County and Loggers Lake in Shannon County. In addition, there are several day use sites and less developed campgrounds on the forest, as well as dispersed recreation areas, that are free year-round. These free sites include Paddy Creek in Texas County, which has facilities for equestrian camping. Normal fees also apply to Mark Twain National Forest sites operated by concessionaires, including Council Bluff in Iron County, Red Bluff in Crawford County, and Sutton Bluff in Reynolds County. National Get Outdoors Day is a designated annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun and participation in traditional and non-traditional types of outdoor activities, while providing ongoing opportunities for people to connect to the outdoors year-round. The forest will be offering free use again later in the fall to celebrate National Public Lands Day on September 27^th and Veterans Day Weekend November 8^th-11^th. The public will have the opportunity to buy, sell, swap or just admire rocks, minerals and fossils at the Missouri Mines Rock Swap June 13-15 at Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will be held from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday. This event will bring together rock hobbyists from across the Midwest and beyond. Participants will be selling, swapping or buying mineral specimens, fossils, rock jewelry and other rock-related items. There is no charge to attend. Also during the three-day event, there will be free admission to the historic site museum, which interprets Missouri’s mining history and displays restored old mining machinery and an outstanding mineral collection. The event is co-sponsored by the Mineral Area Gem and Mineral Society and the Greater St. Louis Association of Earth Science Clubs. Missouri Mines State Historic Site is located in Park Hills, on the south side of Highway 32 at the Flat River Drive overpass, 1.5 miles west of U.S. Highway 67. A Summer Volleyball Camp will be held from June 23^rd through June 27^th this year at the SHS Gym. Camp times will be from 8:30 in the morning until 10:00 for girls in the 3^rd through 5^th grade, and from 12:30 to 2:00 for girls in the 6^th through 8^th grade. This camp is open to any girl entering these grades from Salem R-80, Oak Hill R-1, Green Forest R-2, Dent Phelps R-3, or Northwood R-4. The cost of the camp is $30 per girl. Jaime Garcia twirled seven outstanding innings as the St. Louis Cardinals shut out the Toronto Blue Jays for a second straight day via a 5-0 victory at Rogers Centre. Garcia followed up Shelby Miller's complete-game effort in Saturday's 5-0 triumph with a gem of his own, yielding just three singles and three walks in his best outing since returning from the disabled list in mid-May. Matt Carpenter hit a home run and had two RBI while Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-4 with a solo blast. The Cardinals are off today.

James Shields headed up an impressive Kansas City pitching performance with six effective innings as the Royals came through with a 2-1 win over the New York Yankees. Shields (7-3) racked up eight strikeouts while allowing one unearned run on six hits before relievers Aaron Crow, Wade Davis, and Greg Holland closed out the Royals' fifth victory in seven games. Lorenzo Cain aided the cause with an RBI double and scored the eventual winning run on Mike Moustakas' second-inning single. The Royals and Yankees will play again tonight.

Funeral services for Gertrude Hemme of Springfield and formerly of St. James, age 94, will be held at 11:00 this morning at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Interment will be in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens in Rolla.

Funeral services for Shirley D. Huitt of Salem, age 52, will be held Wednesday at 12:00 at the Salem Christian Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the R-4 Shirley Huitt Memorial Fund.

Memorial and Military services for John Donald Boor of Salem, age 80, will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Memorials may be made to the Firefighter Foundation.
