The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning.  Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles is on vacation and was not in attendance. District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that a crew from APAC would be here in a few weeks to look over the roads that are ready to be chip and sealed, then another crew will come in the following week to add the chip and seal. Simpson also reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 415, 501, various roads between Routes B and N and on short dead end roads in the upper Montauk area. District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that grading would be done in the Ray Oaks Subdivision and also on Dent County Roads 212, 213, 214, 320 and 440 and brush would be cut on Dent County Road 528.  Also at the meeting Bernie English stopped by to discuss with Commissioner Simpson the trouble he was having obtaining public records of a criminal case from the Prosecuting Attorney’s office. Mr. English wrote a letter in early March requesting a copy of the records and has also stopped by the prosecutor’s office requesting a copy. According to State Statutes the prosecutor is supposed produce the records or give a written response of why the records could not be produced within three days of the request.  Commissioner Simpson said he would speak with Prosecuting Attorney Jessica Sparks and get back with Mr. English. Sparks was unavailable as she was in Crawford County at the Courthouse. At the previous meeting Rob Heber with Erb Equipment Company stopped by to discuss a two-year lease on a John Deere backhoe for $6,800 per year.  The Commission had already received a two- year quote of $9,000 per year from Fabick Equipment.  After reviewing the two quotes and both pieces of equipment, Commissioner Simpson made the motion to accept the quote from Erb Equipment, Commissioner Tune seconded the motion and all agreed.  Also at the meeting Darrell Sapaugh inquired about cost share for chip and seal on Dent County Road 326 and Russ Martin, Chair Person for the Bunker Centennial Parade stopped by to discuss the float that Dent Counties elected officials will have in the parade on June 30th.  The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving a missing person. Mr. Timothy Mooney was reported missing on May 11th. Mr. Mooney had not been seen in the area since the first of May and was entered nation wide as a missing person. There was no evidence of fowl play in the part of his disappearance. Then on June 1st at 11:53 in the morning, a private citizen called the Dent County Sheriff’s Department and gave information concerning the whereabouts of Mr. Mooney, and on following up on this information Mr. Mooney was located. For his privacy, Mr. Mooney has requested that his location not be revealed.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their report involving an interference with custody. On May 21st at 10:00, the Dent County Sheriff’s Department received a report concerning two male children ages 5 and 6 years old. It was reported that the father delivered the children to the mother for a special visit. The father has sole physical custody and the mother was granted visitation in the divorce decree. It was reported the mother agreed to bring the children back on May 20th and to date has not done so. Information concerning this investigation has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving property damage. On May 31st at 2:55 in the afternoon, the Sheriff’s Department received a report of property damage at the Dent County Saddle Club on Highway 32 in Salem. It was reported that nine arena lights had been broken out with baseballs. Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Department by calling 729-3241.

The Stream Team 1028 and the Scenic Rivers Stream Team Association will be holding the First Annual Upper Current River Clean Up on Saturday, June 16th. The Clean up will be between Cedar Grove and Round Spring on the Current River. A BBQ dinner will be served to all pre-registered participants at Round Spring after the cleanup. James Shields hurled 7 1/3 strong innings and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays topped the Kansas City Royals, 4-2, to earn a split in a four-game set. Shields (5-0) held the Royals to two runs, fanning five and walking one. Al Reyes tossed the scoreless ninth for his 14th save.Gil Meche (3-5) was the hard-luck loser, giving up three runs -- two earned -- on four hits in six-plus innings, with three punchouts and one walk. In Meche's last four starts, the offense has provided just two runs while he's been on the mound. Catcher John Buck ripped two solo shots to provide the offense for Kansas City, which has dropped nine of 11. The Royals will travel to Cleveland to face the Indians in a three game series beginning tonight.

The St. Louis Cardinals had Monday off before beginning a three-game series with Cincinnati tonight stating at 7:00. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Louisville captured the Columbia, MO Region with a 16-6 win over Missouri, the top seed in the bracket. The Cardinals also beat the Tigers on Sunday to force the final matchup -- this after losing to Missouri earlier in the week.

The Anaheim Ducks are one victory away from their first championship. Dustin Penner scored the game-winning goal early in the third period and Andy McDonald added two goals and an assist as Anaheim beat Ottawa 3-2 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals at Scotiabank Place. The Duck lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1, and will look to close it out on home ice at the Honda Center in Game 5 on Wednesday.

Major League Baseball has suspended Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella four games for his actions in the team's 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Piniella was initially suspended indefinitely after his vehement argument with umpire Mark Wegner.

Funeral services for Richard E. Cavanaugh of Cuba, age 74, will be held Thursday at 10:00 at the James & Gahr Chapel in St. James.  Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00.  Interment will be in the Adams Cemetery in Phelps County.

Funeral services for Mildred Mae Harrison of Eminence, age 79, will be Thursday at 11:00 at the Duncan Funeral Home in Eminence. Visitation will be tonight from 3:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Flatwoods Cemetery in Eminence.

Graveside services for Ella Mae Clark of St. Louis, formerly of Gladden, age 83, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the Chrisco Cemetery in Shannon County. Visitation will be held Thursday from noon until 1:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Salem.
