The Department of Natural Resources will conduct another public meeting about the Spring Creek watershed tonight at the Salem TCRC located at 1200 West Rolla Road beginning at 7:00 PM. At the April 26th meeting, the group discussed possible sources for the low dissolved oxygen in Spring Creek, including standing water and nutrients. One pertinent topic (as a source of nutrients) that was not explored was “on-site septic”.  Russell Lilly, of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) will discuss that subject at this month’s meeting. Everyone is cordially invited to attend this public meeting. It is part of a series of meetings designed to allow residents of the Spring Creek watershed to identify and mitigate man-made impacts to the creek and its feeder creeks.  Please come and participate; we need your help.  Invite your friends and neighbors to come, too.  We look forward to seeing you at the meeting. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Anne Peery, Water Protection Program, at (573) 526-1426.
