An accident occurred at 12:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, May 19^th in Phelps County on I-44 at mile maker 188.6. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Chevrolet driven by 29-year old Steven Taylor of Salem was traveling westbound on I-44, lost control on the wet pavement, ran off the right side of the road and struck the ditch. Taylor suffered minor injury and sought his own treatment. A passenger, 40-year old Robert Behrens of St. James suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Everyone involved was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Chevrolet sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene by Ron Dishman Towing. 

An accident occurred at 6:10 Saturday morning in Dent County on Route FF about fourteen miles north of Salem. According to the Highway patrol report, a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 33-year old Julie Bounds of Salem was traveling west on Route FF. The accident occurred as the Jeep swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. The Jeep then traveled off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck a bridge support. Passengers in the vehicle, 24-year old Heather Gollaher and 32-year old Misty Gollaher, both of Salem, suffered minor injuries and were transported to Salem Memorial Hospital by Salem EMS. Everyone was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the accident. The Jeep sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing. 

An accident occurred at 12:30 Sunday afternoon in Phelps County on County Road 7360 about three miles south of Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, a 2006 Jeep driven by 28 year-old Brandi Loyet of Rolla traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned, and came to rest in a creek bed. Loyet and three occupants of Rolla in the Jeep: 30-year old Anthony Brock, 4-year old Brennan Brock, and 3-year old Kason Brock, all suffered minor injuries but refused treatment. Loyet was the only one not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Jeep was totaled in the accident and removed from the scene by Ron Dishman’s Towing.

An accident happened at 7:30 in the morning on Thursday, May 19^th in Texas County on Route C about a mile south of Maples. According to the highway patrol report, a 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by 29-year old Lanette Epstein of Licking was traveling northbound on Route C, ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the roadway striking a tree. Epstein suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by the Salem ambulance. She was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Jeep Liberty was totaled and removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a stolen license plate, theft and trespassing. On Tuesday, May 17th at 2:20 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to a stolen license plate. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown had taken a license plate off of a 1995 Chevrolet truck. At 7:00 that evening, an officer was detailed to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft.  The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 49-year old Salem male for stealing merchandise. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. On Wednesday, May 18th at 3:34 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to trespassing. That investigation led to the arrest of a 49-year old Salem male for trespassing. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. Anyone with any information regarding the stolen license plate, which is still under investigation, is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting, Hospital Administrator Stephanie Wofford will present the summary of operations for the month of April. Director of Nursing Carol Lacy will then present the statistics reports for April along with the nursing services and ancillary service report. Administrator Dennis Pryor will then give an auxiliary report, the hospital activity calendar and legislative issues all followed by the Chief of Staff report. In old business, the Board will address a 2011 strategic planning goals update, the hospital lagoon, there will be a TCRC discussion and a report from the finance committee meeting. The Board will then address hospital purchases in new business. The Board may vote to go into Closed Session. The regular monthly meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released several arrest reports. On Saturday, May 14^th at 9:30 at night, 30-year old Travis Jones of Bunker was arrested in Dent County for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the Dent County Jail and was later released. On Tuesday, May 17^th at 12:04 in the afternoon, 27-year old Troy Myers of Salem was arrested in Dekalb County on six Rolla municipal traffic warrants, a Pulaski County traffic warrant, Phelps County warrants for bad checks and failure to appear for no drivers license. He was also charged with driving while suspended, failure to display registration, and no seat belt. He was taken to the Dent County Jail. Later that night at 8:40, 21-year-old Robby Hart of Rolla was arrested in Dent County on a Phelps County felony warrant for probation violation as well as six Rolla municipal misdemeanor traffic warrants. He was also taken to the Dent County Jail.

Yadier Molina finished 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored as St. Louis got by Kansas City, 9-8, in the rubber match of this three-game interleague series. Allen Craig hit a two-run homer, while Matt Holliday and Daniel Descalso knocked in a run each for the Cardinals, who won the set and have taken six of seven overall. Colby Rasmus walked five times, including bases-loaded walk in the 10th forcing in St. Louis' go-ahead run. Jason Motte (2-1) picked up the win with a scoreless ninth, and Fernando Salas allowed an RBI double to Brayan Pena in the 10th but hung on to post his seventh save. Wilson Betemit hit a two-run homer and drove in three for the Royals, who erased a 7-1 deficit but lost for the seventh time in nine games. Alex Gordon homered and knocked in two, and Jeff Francoeur added a solo shot and scored twice. Louis Coleman (0-1) was charged with two runs without retiring a batter in defeat. The Cards will be in San Diego and Kansas City will have the day off.
