On Friday, May 16^th, deputies with the Dent County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in the 500 block of East Acuff. During a search of the residence, items of drug paraphernalia and prescription pills were located. As a result, 39-year old Alice J Kidwell of Salem was taken into custody. Kidwell is currently being held in the Dent County Jail on a $7,000 cash only bond. 

The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 5410, 5440, 6110, 6220, 6370 and 6570 while materials would be added to county road 6090. He also indicated that a man would be picking up additional chips from Ironton for the chip and seal repairs to be done this summer. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2180, 2185, 2190, 2195, 3130, 3180 and 5280. He also said that materials would be added and grading done on Dent County Roads 2183 and 3120. Larson stated that one man would be screening brown rock and one man would be hauling chips from Ironton for the summer chip and seal road repairs. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles stated the bill passed to allow for the $3.00 increase in the prisoner per diem reimbursement. That money once received would go back into the Law Enforcement Sales Tax Fund in Dent County. Skiles also said the courthouse would be closed on Monday, May 26^th for Memorial Day and there would be no commissioner meeting. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said phone bids for diesel fuel for road and bridge would be done. The next meeting will be Thursday at the courthouse at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their May meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and approval of the minutes from the meeting held April 22^nd. The Board will then hear the summary of operations and statistics reports for April followed by the nursing and ancillary services reports. Hospital Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board with the auxiliary report, hospital activity calendar and legislative issues followed by the Chief of Staff report. In old business, the Board will address the 2011 strategic planning goals update, the Community Health Needs Assessment, the budget committee meeting report for 2015 and the Ozark Independent Health Alliance. The Board will then approve purchases made for the hospital in new business and may vote to go into closed session. The May meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released their arrest reports for Dent County. On Saturday, May 10^th at 11:10 in the morning, 64-year old Rita Durham of Salem was arrested on a misdemeanor Dent County warrant for failing to wear a seat belt. She was taken to the Dent County Jail and held on bond. On Sunday, May 11^th at 11:55 in the morning, 28-year old Kenneth Donovan of Hollister was arrested on a misdemeanor Hartville PD warrant for speeding. He was taken to the Dent County Jail and then released. On Saturday, May 17^th at 6:58 in the evening, Shante White of Salem was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, no insurance, driving while suspended, and no valid plates. She was taken to the Dent County Jail and then released. On Sunday, May 18^th at 10:00 in the morning, 49-year old Gregory Horn of Salem was arrested on a felony Dent County warrant for possession of cocaine and for failing to register as a sex offender. He was taken to the Dent County Jail and held on no bond. On Monday, May 19^th at 9:38 in the evening, 50-year old Donald Wethy of Salem was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (drugs) and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was taken to the Dent County Jail and then was later released.

Cory Homan's single in the bottom of the 7th inning drove in pinch runner Tristan Warny with the winning run on what appeared to be a missed call at homeplate as Eldon beat the Salem Tigers, 3-2. Cory Ramsey went 6 and a third innings and allowed only five hits (Homan had three of them) and two walks while striking out five in getting the loss. The Tigers held a 2-1 lead in the 6th inning but Eldon tied the game in the 6th inning on an unearned run, then won it in the 7th. Salem only had three hits but did receive six walks and a hit batsman in the game to go along with four Eldon errors. Salem finished the season with a 10-12 record.

In the other semi-final game, Sullivan took advantage of two St. James infield errors with runners at 3rd base to get two unearned runs that proved to be the difference as they beat the Tigers, 3-1. The Eagles will face the Eldon Mustangs for the Class 4, District 9 Championship at 4:30 Wednesday at the SHS Field. Admission to the game will be $4.00.

The St. Louis Cardinals had the day off yesterday but will start a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals are 23-21 on the year and are four games back of Milwaukee for the lead in the NL Central. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio starting at 6:40.

Paul Konerko's two-run homer in the fifth helped the Chicago White Sox erase an early five-run deficit and defeat the Kansas City Royals, 7-6, in the opener of a three-game set. Royal's starter Jason Vargas (4-2) yielded seven runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in the loss. Eric Hosmer finished with three RBI and Lorenzo Cain knocked in two runs for the Royals, who had won two straight entering the contest. The Royals and White Sox play again tonight.

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed goaltender Brian Elliott to a three-year contract extension. Elliott, 29, posted an 18-6-2 record with a 1.96 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in 31 games last season.

The Kansas City Chiefs signed offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb to a one-year contract on Monday. The 25-year-old played just eight games with Minnesota last season. Prior to his one-year stint with the Vikings, Webb played three seasons with the Chicago Bears and started all but two of the 46 games.

Funeral services for Mary Grace Harston of Rolla, formerly of Salem, age 81, will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the Ozark Highland Christian Church. Visitation will be held tonight from 5:00 to 7:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Rolla City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Ronald Max Voight of Rolla, age 62, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary Chapel in Rolla. Visitation will be held from 11:00 in the morning until service time on Thursday. Interment will be in the Rolla City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Little Prairie Bible Camp Scholarship Fund.

Funeral services for Michael Raymond Reynolds of Salem, age 57, will be held Saturday at 9:00 at the Salem Full Gospel Church. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 at Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the Stone Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Michael Reynolds family.

Graveside services for Evadna Lee Heck of Houston, Texas, formerly of Vichy, age 93, will be held Saturday at 10:00 at the Walker Cemetery in Vichy. Visitation will be Friday night from 5:00 to 7:00 at James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Walker Cemetery.

Alvin Louis Long of Salem, age 70, passed away May 17^th in Salem. No services will be held. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
