The Salem Police Department released their reports involving traffic violations, a stolen vehicle, a disturbance, a shoplifter, active warrants, and a mental commitment order. On Saturday April 21st at 3:53 in the afternoon, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 37-year old Salem male for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. At 9:22 that night, an officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East First Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. That investigation revealed that a 29-year old Salem male took a vehicle while physically restraining the owner in the vehicle, a 26-year old Salem female. The owner of the vehicle was released and the suspect left with the vehicle. Further investigation led to the vehicle being stopped at which time the suspect rammed into the front of a patrol car. The suspect was taken into custody and placed under arrest for tampering with a motor vehicle in the 1st degree, felonious restraint, resisting arrest and escape from custody. He was incarcerated pending the application of warrants. On Sunday, April 22nd at 4:26, an officer responded to a call to a residence in the 1300 block of South Gertrude in reference to a disturbance. The investigation led to the arrest of a 32-year old Salem male for a peace disturbance, property damage, resisting arrest, and assaulting a law enforcement officer; and a 25-year old Salem male for a peace disturbance. The 25-year old was released with a summons to appear in court. The 32-year old male was incarcerated pending the application of warrants. On Monday, April 23rd at 12:14 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. That investigation led to the arrest of a 21-year old male and a 17-year old female, both of Salem, for stealing merchandise valued at $30.41. Both were issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Tuesday, April 24th at 9:46 at night, an officer made contact with a 31-year old Salem male in the 800 block of East Third who had two active warrants from Dent County. He was taken into custody on the warrants and was incarcerated. On Wednesday, April 25th at 7:44 in the morning, an officer transported a 20-year old Salem female to the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in lieu of a mental commitment order. That night at 10:24, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 22-year old Salem male on a warrant from Dent County. He posted bond and was released with a court date. Later that same night at 11:39, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation led to the arrest of a 28-year old Salem male on three active warrants from the Rolla City Police Department. He was taken into custody and was later released on bond. A couple of accidents occurred on Tuesday, May 15th in Dent County. The first accident occurred at 3:20 in the afternoon on Route B about nine miles east of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, a 2000 GMC Sonoma driven by 54-year old Steven Strickland of Salem traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the road, went into the ditch, and overturned. Strickland suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by ambulance. He was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The GMC was totaled and was removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing. The second accident occurred 4:22 that afternoon on Highway 119 about two miles south of Highway 32. According to the highway patrol report, 23-year old Perry Odom of Salem was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue and turned left into the path of a 2009 Honda Shadow motorcycle ridden by 42-year old Charles Burkhart of Salem. Burkhart suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by ambulance. Odom was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Oldsmobile sustained moderate damage but was not towed. The Honda sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing.
The Industrial Development Authority of the County of Dent will conduct a meeting tonight at the Bank of Salem located on 4th and Main Streets beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting, the Board will review financial statements for the period ending April 30, 2012. The Board will then approve the payment of bills presented, discuss the status of notes payable as well as any other business that may come before the Board. The Board may vote to go into Closed Session. The meeting of the Industrial Development Authority of the County of Dent is open to the public.
The Utility Construction Department with the City of Salem will have Park Street closed from Center Street to Coffman Street starting Monday, May 21st during daylight hours for a utility line upgrade, and until completion of the project. Park Street will be open during non-working hours with only one lane open to traffic. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution when traveling through the area.

Yadier Molina hit a two-out, game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Cardinals past the Cubs, 7-6, in the finale of a two-game set. Holliday homered in the game and Allen Craig went 3 for 4 with two RBI. Kyle Lohse allowed five runs on nine hits with five strikeouts over 6 2/3 frames. Jason Motte (2-1) pitched the ninth to get the victory. St. Louis placed outfielder Jon Jay on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right shoulder before the game and recalled outfielder Shane Robinson from Triple-A Memphis. The Cards will start a two-game series with the San Francisco Giants tonight and you can hear it on KSMO at 8:40.
Brayan Pena ripped a two-run single as part of a four-run first inning and the Kansas City Royals never looked back en route to a 7-4 victory and a sweep of the Texas Rangers in a two-game series. Billy Butler and Eric Hosmer cracked RBI doubles, Mike Moustakas clubbed a solo home run and Chris Getz added an RBI single for the Royals, who have won four straight and six of their last seven games. Vin Mazzaro (1-0) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two over five solid innings to earn the win. Jose Mijares and Greg Holland combined to close it out in the ninth. The Royals and Baltimore Orioles will start a two-game series tonight in Kansas City.

Funeral services for Osa M. Allen of Salem, age 95, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be tonight from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Fair Haven’s Home in Strafford.
Funeral services for Andrew Howard Salter of Rolla, age 60, will be held Thursday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Fort Leonard Wood Veteran’s Cemetery with full military honors.
Funeral services for Annette W. Spencer of Rolla, age 74, will be announced at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.
