The Salem Police Department has released their reports. On Friday, May 3^rd at 2:15 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to a theft of fuel. The investigation revealed that someone took fuel, valued at $296.80, from a green 2007 Freightliner that was parked on Babb lane. That same afternoon at 3:08, an officer investigated a burglary that occurred at the Salem Lutheran Church where a cell phone valued at $200 was taken and a glass pane, valued at $150, was broken. On Saturday, May 4^th at 1:44 in the morning, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. That investigation led to the arrest of a 45-year old Salem female for driving while intoxicated. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, May 5^th at 2:02 in the morning, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. After attempting to flee, the vehicle was stopped without incident. The investigation led to the arrest of a 24-year old Salem male for driving while intoxicated a persistent offender, resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and numerous traffic related charges. He was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. On Monday, May 6^th at 2:02 in the morning, a Dent County Sheriffs Deputy recognized a vehicle that had been reported stolen and attempted to stop it. The vehicle was pursued into the city limits where an officer assisted and the vehicle was stopped. That investigation led to the arrest of the driver for stealing a motor vehicle. Further investigation led officers to a residence in the county where a shotgun that had been previously been reported stolen from a vehicle in the City of Salem was recovered. The suspect was also charged with a second count of stealing a motor vehicle that was previously reported from the City of Salem as well as thefts from vehicles, a burglary that at occurred at the Salem Lutheran Church and numerous property damage complaints. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. Later that afternoon at 4:00, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that someone took a 17’ canoe valued at $150 from the yard of a residence in the 100 block of South Washington. On Tuesday, May 7^th at 8:53 in the morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 300 block of East Truman in reference to damage to private property. That investigation revealed that someone broke a pane of glass of a residence valued at $11.70. That afternoon at 4:40 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to an assault. The investigation revealed that an 11-year old male juvenile of Salem had assaulted an 11-year old male juvenile also of Salem. He was released to his parent and the report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office for further review. On Wednesday, May 8^th at 9:11 in the morning, an officer was detailed to Candi Boots and More located at 404 West Fourth in reference to a burglary. That investigation revealed that someone entered the building by force and took merchandise with an estimated value of $5,000. At 12:45 that afternoon, an officer was detailed to Burger King Restaurant in reference to a disturbance. The investigation revealed that a female and a male, both 24 years of age and of Salem, were involved in an altercation. They were issued summons to appear in court for disorderly conduct and released. At 7:00 that evening, an officer transported a 35-year old Salem female to the Ozark Medical Center in West Plains in lieu of a mental commitment order. Anyone with information regarding the thefts, property damage, or the burglaries is asked to contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

An accident occurred at 10:37 Saturday evening in Washington County that too the life of a Steelville man. According to the highway patrol report, 26-year old Justin Carl of Steelville was driving a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 on Route C west of Drew Road when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Carl then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway, strike an embankment and two trees, and then overturn. Carl was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Brian Declue at 12:28 early Sunday morning. His body was taken to the Washington County Hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released an arrest report. On Wednesday at 4:00 in the afternoon in Dent County, 32-year old Jason Coble of Salem was arrested and charged with a felony charge of driving while suspended, speeding and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was held in the Dent County Jail.

The Salem Tiger baseball team is seeded second in District 9 of Class 4 and the will play Eldon today in Sullivan at 1:30. The price of admission is $4.00 a person for anyone who is six years of age and older. You can hear the game on KSMO and online at ksmoradio.com.

Thanks to a Dustin Penner goal with just 0.2 seconds left in the second period, the L.A. Kings advanced with a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of this Western Conference quarterfinal series. Chris Porter had the lone goal while Brian Elliott gave up both goals on 16 shots for the Blues, who had won the first two games before dropping the final four.

Jorge De La Rosa took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Colorado's offense awoke from its slumber as the Rockies came away with an 8-2 victory over St. Louis in the finale of a three-game set. Matt Adams and Pete Kozma each drove in a run for St. Louis in the ninth inning Jaime Garcia (4-2) lost for the first time in four starts, surrendering two homers as well as eight hits over six innings. He struck out seven in the defeat. The Cardinals will play the New York Mets tonight and you can hear it on KSMO Radio at 5:30.

The St. Louis Cardinals placed pitcher Jake Westbrook on the 15-day disabled list Sunday because of right elbow inflammation. The move is retroactive to May 9. Westbrook has been solid for the Cardinals this season, going 2-1 with a 1.62 earned run average over seven starts. He led the majors in ERA after the month of April and has also fanned 19 batters over 39 innings pitched. St. Louis plans to purchase pitcher John Gast from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday where the left-hander will make his MLB debut versus the New York Mets. Gast is 3-1 this season with Memphis and has a 1.16 ERA over six starts.

Huroki Kuroda threw 7 2/3 strong innings, Robinson Cano and Vernon Wells clubbed back-to-back homers, and the New York Yankees remained hot with a 4-2 triumph over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Ervin Santana (3-2) served up Cano and Wells' back-to-back blasts during a three-run top of the third, and surrendered four runs in all on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings to receive the loss. Alex Gordon went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the setback, the sixth in seven outings for the Royals. Kansas City will start a series with the Angels tonight.

Funeral services for Marvin E. Wycoff of Columbia and formerly of St. James, age 89, will be held at 11:00 this morning at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in St. James with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Funeral services for Rodney “Rod” Collier of Cuba, will be held Tuesday at 1:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Davisville Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements for Patrick Michael Broyles of Marshfield and formerly of Rolla, age 45, are incomplete but are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.
